Thanks!

Go to the Pemex. Ask for Alejo Murillo or one of his sons. Fishing guides in Loreto for generations. No better. Stay away from the gringo charters.

Try and get hold of Samberto Castro in Ensenada Blanca. Good guide, very friendly and knowledgeable guide. He can be reached at 6131212778

Jorge Valente on his panga Theresa II. Fishing, snorkeling, Jorge doesn't care, he just likes being on the water and dearly loves fishing.

If the pic loads, that's Jorge on the right. I'm on the left, holding the big Cabrilla while bleeding profusely. Blood thinners and Cabrilla teeth- it's a long story

Thanks for all the replies! Do any of these guys have bimini tops/shade on the boat? What's the going rate these days? And does that include cleaning the catch?

Of the two times I got out, once with Jorge and once with Martin ("Marteen". I don't know how to make the little "tick" over the "i". His panga is the Dolphin I think) both had collapsible/retractable shades.

I would wholeheartedly endorse Martin as much as Jorge, but don't know how to get a hold of him. Maybe the fishing co-op?

$250 + tip($50 is what I gave) + bait ($20) if we had the sardina guy net some or bought macs on the way out. We sabiki'd more macs anyhow and used the sardinas mostly to chum and stir up action.

Price included filleting and both were upset that I took all the fish whole for a friend of ours who was the one that set us up with them in the first place-

One thing to be aware of- If you're paying them in US$ cash, make sure the bills of any denomination are fresh and clean. Any stamps, tears, tape, "Where's George?", etc. and the local banks won't exchange them.

I love fishing, so have almost as much fun pulling up a sabiki full of macs as hauling in a locomotive of a Yellowtail. Almost.

Any level of service is available there. But cost increases with comfort. I prefer the best guide to the most comfort. A great panguero (bare) used to be about a hunnert. I'm sure things have skyrocketed since Loretto has been discovered.

Davis! I should've known, since like 1/2 the town has "Davis" as one of their last names and they're all related/ cousins in a way.

I tried to understand when our friend ran out to see his "cousin" beach launching his panga (a different cousin) and I asked "How many cousins do you have?" and he replied "What kind of cousin?"
