cell service or internet in BOLA
Sorry to bother you all again. Is there ANY connectivity in BOLA?
I have international data that usually links up if I can get cell service.

Local wifi at the many motels/businesses in L.A. Bay. No cell connection as of last year. The end of cell coverage is just south of San Felipe and El
Rosario. It begins again just north of Guerrero Negro.

The grocery stores all have it, but you need to schmooze the password from them
Archelon has wifi but they don't leave it on all the time
Bety will turn it on if you ask
You can make phone calls pretty cheaply from the grocery stores

No cell service. The internet is generally slow. Depending on who is clerking at the grocery stores (Isla or Lizeth) you may need some basic spanish
language skills for phone or internet. Several hotels will have wi-fi. It's a slow-paced kind of place.

I've used a bunch of Wi-Fi there. Most of it is crap.
The market on the ocean side of the street is decent. You buy access and they give you a login good for 30 mins.
You can make Whatsapp calls from your phone.
Protip: make sure you have auto-app update/download turned off. Otherwise once you connect to Wi-Fi you phone is going to go nuts trying to update
apps and suck up all the bandwidth.

What JZ said about the updates! I tried to use my crappy little Acer at the market on the main street, and it was absolutely useless! A windows
update was trying to happen (no notification) and I was not even able to get on line to send an e-mail.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

All internet in the village is satellite.
Phone booth in Lizeth market.
WiFi also in Lizeth, and/or they have a desktop PC plugged in (to avoid WiFi, but it's still a sluggish satellite connection). About 20 pesos an hour,
as I recall. There is a desk in the corner to sit down with laptop or use their PC.

If you want a big adventure, checkout the 2nd video in my sig. We took a super panga out to the top of Isla de la Guarda. Up there is the most
spectacular bay in all of Baja.

It's not that internet is intermittent, but senora Lizeth is . Posted lunch
break is 1 to 3 pm (I think). You come at 4, the place is closed. Lady at the taco stand in front says - si, viene mas tarde (will come later). When
later - hey, who knows, que sera sera...

Yes, this must be the taqueria in front of Lizeth. Don't know why "china", she is actually from Cuernavaca. Lizeth is her sister, if I'm not
mistaken.
Many places in this town are owned by extended family members, ex. construction materials store is owned by Dagget sister Reyna and the in-law Pepe.
Small town.

China is definitely a finalist in the favorite Baja character
The best value in Mexico is a taco from China

Meche owns the Lizeth internet cafe next to China's. Pretty much if you eat in town your are patronizing one of 4 sisters. China has the taco stand,
Alejandra owns Alejandrinas restaurant, Marta owns Las Hamacas, and Meche is Guillermo's wife and Lizeth is their daughter. Sometimes I think everyone
in this town is related somehow.
Off grid, 12-190 watt evergreen solar panels on solar trackers, 2-3648 stacked Outback inverters, 610ah LiFePo4 48v battery bank, FM 60 and MX60
Outback charge controllers, X-240 Outback transformer for 240v from inverters, 6500 watt Kubota diesel generator.

Thanks for that Larry! What is China's 'Mexican' first name?

No cell service. Locals use radios. In case of emergency (fire, robbery, assault, murder), the locals call for help using radios.
Internet is via satellite. People have sat internet accts, ask at hotels and shops.
If you can get by w/o phone and internet, do so, it makes time off time off.
Woke!
