Mexican insurance company?
hi everyone,
We are having car issues and find that we have to buy a new car. We will buy a Mexican used vehicle since we are citizens and live full time in La
Bocana, BCS.
We need to have it insured. We have worked with Inbursa forever but they seem to really be slacking. We are not happy with them at all.
Got any suggestions? We need to have a company that can also insure us when we come to the US (usually once a year for family Christmas).
Thanks for any input and happy new year to all!

Seguros AXA Mexico
Online quotes and policy. Offer all types of Insurance including health with good coverage and really great pricing.
Beginning on Jan. 1st. Auto Liability is now mandatory for all vehicles on the road in Mexico. Curious to see if it will be enforced.

Unless they tie insurance to sticker on the plates - no sticker without insurance - there will be a lot uninsured cars.
Self-governed registration bodies like Anapromex and Onapafa will probably continue issuing registrations under their own criteria and their own
format.

within the last couple weeks there have been checkpoints here in rosarito checking for INSURANCE (well it is the holiday season) im sure its settled
on the spot.....a majority of cars have no current tags let alone insurance, non issue unless you're one of the few with a car worth insuring, or
you're a gringo!

What's the infraction, and fee, if you are caught in Mexico, without auto insurance?
Is driving without auto insurance in Mexico a crime?
Yes, I know there is more to this, and other issues, like financial responsibility requirements, but knowing the exact laws, might stop bribery
attempts.

What if you're Caught ?
Looking at a couple of Mex insurance sites ............... it seems unclear.
" ............Penalties for failing to carry the required coverage can be quite harsh for residents. If caught using federal roads
without proper insurance, fines can range from 20 to 40 days of minimum wage. In order to avoid the added expense of the penalties,
drivers are required, by law, to purchase auto insurance that will cover the cost of all injuries sustained by third parties who are involved in an
accident.
On the other hand, should the driver get auto insurance with the required coverage within 45 days from the day of being stopped
and cited for driving on federal roads without an active policy, the fines may be waived at the court’s discretion. Though not fool-proof, the
Federal Police intend to make every attempt to stop and fine uninsured motorists by conducting regular inspections. By doing so, they hope to
determine whether drivers using the roads are covered or not ........."
It's unclear how the above might affect visiting tourists. There may be more to it, but one would think insurance agencies targeting the visitor
would address any such additional considerations.

I am always amazed at how many locals drive around in cars with NO PLATES AT ALL in my area.
