Chevy truck ad showing pre-Hwy 1 Baja conditions (1962)
Does anyone recognize various landmarks in this ad from 1962?

The last scene was probably Laguna Chapala.

I have seen that add a few time in the past and wonder if they were ever in Baja at all... If they were, they sure didn't show any familiar landmarks.
The only river crossing like that is near La PurÃsima and that was not the main road to Cabo. The dry lake (or salt flat) scene would seem like
Laguna Chapala but why not show the silt beds as well, a lot more impressive to have 2WD trucks get through the silt... I just don't know?

I'm fairly certain that was all filmed at the same studio where they faked the moon landing.

Looks a lot like the rock quarries around the 605 Speedway.
Weren't the Oakland Raiders building a stadium there??
Or it could be the never ending road construction near Coco's
Then again, Matt may be onto something,
could definitely be a NASA spoofing station.

Oh ye of little faith!
How can this be fake?? There's a Mexican flag blowing in the breeze, a smiling federale, and another officer waving them thru the border!
If not true- it's certainly an idyllic vision of the Baja California of yore.
