Current status of Virgin of Guadalupe shrine/art? (near Cataviña)
I'm going thru old Baja photos and found this one.
Not sure what category to post this in. Does 25 years make it "historic"?
The photo was taken in 1993.
I'm wondering if anyone knows the status of this shrine/artwork of the Virgin, and/or could post a current photo of the area.
Is still in place the boulders?
Over the years I think it has been defaced with graffiti.
Maybe a fence was finally put up around it?
Thanks for any updates.

It was fine a couple of months ago. the shrine has been improved (maybe?). There was a bit of glass from the candles on the ground, mostly the same.

Thank you. The graffiti was getting pretty bad several years ago.
Hopefully it's been removed and the site is being maintained better.

Is this the original La Virgen along the old road or the moved to Hwy. 1 (a mile away) one?
I have many photos at the original taken over that past 60 years.
Here is Neal Johns' photo from Feb. 2003 at the original:

I took this photo a short distance off Hwy. 1, north of Cataviña, in the boulder field area.
The original image was likely on a transparency that I converted to a .jpg file. This was in the early/mid 90s, pre-digital camera era so the quality
is not great.
You can see the difference with photo quality with these images of vehicles from those days- a 4WD Mitsubishi wagon, circa 1994 (scanned from a
slide):
Replaced it with a 4WD Ranger in 1999 (image from digital camera)

It's there, just off the road like its been for the last 10 plus years. If those that don't know where it is might not need to know. They ain't
looking around.
