A hotel in Catavina other than the old Presidente?
Anyone know if there is a "decent" hotel in Catavina other than the Hotel Mision Catavena? By "decent" I mean comfortable bed, clean sheets and a hot
shower? Thanks.

The indecent Cabanas Linda and the Rancho Santa Ynez bunkhouse (if open) are it. Stay in luxury at the Baja Cactus Motel, just 76 miles northbound, in
El Rosario (next to Pemex station). Both are owned by a great Baja Nomad human being.

Nope.
But it’s a great hotel, so spend the extra few bucks and enjoy!
If you want a cheaper “half’ experience, eat dinner in the hotel then go spread a sleeping bag and pad on the ground amongst the boulders (north
of town) and enjoy some great star gazing.

Thanks for responding. We've stayed at the Cactus in El Rosario but the extra hours of driving north won't sit well with the nalgas. We'll probably
stay at the TerraSol in GN then push on from there. .

Why not take the beautiful 40 mile drive to Bahia de los Angeles? There are many motels there. Costa del Sol is highly rated. Los Vientos (north 3
miles on the La Gringa pave road) is high style. There are others, too.

Hey David, that is exactly the thought TW and I had after our Pacific Coast loop route. We came out to Hwy 1 a few miles north of BOLA turn, and
thought the same - decent motels, air conditioning, and only an hour away.
Sure enough - lots of motels, lots of air conditioning, food, and all that, and it was HOT!
As we entered town we immediately saw most folks sporting red long-sleeved shirts - a fishing tournament was in progress. All rooms booked, the air
conditioning was running so continuously that the town's power went off half a dozen times. We scored what was probably the last available room. Sat
on the porch until midnight when the power came back on for the rest of the night.
Still, sitting on the porch, gazing at the Sea of Cortez, adult beverage in hand, it was 100 degrees, but it was all good!
You just don't know what's around the next corner.

I've thought of that many times but it adds 80 miles to your trip, 40 going in and 40 coming back out. Oh yes, and the heat and humidity July, Aug,
and Sept is oppressive. A great place for a sauna, except that it lasts all day and into the darkness. Even 10 miles inland the same temperatures are
much more tolerable.
