Lost in Loreto

I am trying to locate an old friend named Al Rogers. The last time I saw him he was living in Loreto, and that was about 13-14 years ago. Anyone in Loreto know him or know of him? Thanks,

He and his wife lived right in the middle of town, a few blocks from where the old Cesar's restaurant was. In fact that was his watering hole.

Al Rogers

Ken I knew Al very Well, use to live just a block down from him and his wife.
Virginia and I attented his Wedding at Cezars Rest.

I am sad to say that Al go Run out of Town several years ago. he was drunk, driving his VW and hit and injuried a Child, he did not pay the Medical Expenses of the Child so the local Strong Arms gave him 24 Hurs to Leave, he was escorted out of Loreto.
Can still see Al playing Santa claus ofr all the patrons at the "El Nido". He was dressed up sitting in the donkey Cart in front of El Nido with a Real donkey Hitched to the Cart, He and the donkey both Loaded to the Gills!!

Let me know if you find him.

Was Al the guy who hit the telephone pole out by El Nido one night about 3am, and the whole town lost power/ phone service? This was back over 10 years ago, and I recall this local gringo was drunk and had a young girl with him who died.:?:
That was that old pole that was "half in the street" on the old road into town by the water tower.

Al Roger

Al went back to LA and finished his years there.

Trudy, Douglas, and Olivia live in the house now.

He did not hit the pole in front of El Nido.

He did hit the kid on a bike. Left town in a panic. Returned later and house sat for Sandy Harrison but never did move back to town. Early 90s last visit, I think.

Al was A PIECE OF WORK in both the best and worst senses of the expression.

I don't hear anything about his wife, Frances anymore.

Ken

I have no knowledge of whether he has passed on or not. I saw him about a year before Sandy harrison died.

On night he was entertaining two of His Irsh Friends at a House near the Beach. Talk about an Irshmans Night, we had to carry them all Home!

Chris; It was Don Rosendhal and Fred Shields in his Ford Bronco that Hit the Electrical Pole. I am not sure that the girl Died.

The incident I mentioned, happened a years later, but it must have been another gringo.
That "pole" I am sure collected a few people over the years:o

Al Roger

Al Roger, El Elote, is gone. For certain.

David Machaca, the burro at El Nido, is also gone.

Al died in LA. David in Loreto. Al from long life and hard drink. David from teenaged craziness, gasoline, and probably beer. He was lassoed, tied to the back of a car, and dragged to death.

Al was fond of Scotch whiskey and Vaudville tunes. David loved to munch onions, carrots, and cigarettes; also, on occasion, my forearm.

Can you give me any details about his death, when and how? I think you said he died in LA, that's where I first met him when he was a starter at one of the golf courses in Griffith Park.

don't know if this is the same guy but a few years ago I remember this happening. The person dragged to death behind a vehicle was a known child molestor.

All this talk of drunks makes me angry. I would like to see a crackdown on drunk driving and the like happening here. Lots of drunk gringos and local men alike and its disgusting.:fire:
