Just wanted to give a big Thanks and recommendation to a great mechanic in Vizcaino. Ignacio (615) 161 8530.
He totally overhauled the transmission in our GMC Yukon that died a few miles out of town. He knew what was wrong, ordered the necessary parts,
dissembled the entire trans, thoroughly cleaned all parts and reassembled it with new parts. It worked perfectly all the way to the US. Also had a
good experience at the Kadekaman Hotel, restaurant was not bad either. Spent three days there and I can say that there is NOTHING to do in Vizcaino.
Thanks... these are always good posts to keep in mind!
Vizcaino has always been amazing to me with the people and services.
Last year, we met 'Junior' at the big auto parts store (east side, near bank) who has a mechanic shop in town (see the Visita de San Pablo episode of
Trail of Missions Recon). That auto parts store is pretty amazing, too! During our 2016 Baja Extreme Tour, the 4Runner needed a new alternator... they
had it (and front wheel bearing clips for the Land Cruiser).
You were so close to us! If it were not Covid-19 nightmare times, we could have picked you up for you to discover La Bocana. Vizcaino is where we
go to the dentist.
We ate at the Kadakaaman restaurant once or twice and were not impressed.
When we used to eat out LOL, we liked Martitha's restaurant on the other side of the street. Really fast service and delicious food.
I bet the mechanic you used is the same one Les uses. He is excellent and does not overcharge. Many a time has Les left early enough to be there at
7 am, to ensure he is the first one serviced for the day. It takes us 1 1/2 hours to get there.
Due to an early enduring economically unsustainable existence, often, the need of the services of a wrench in The Baja arose. The place was normally
desolate. Those early experiences schooled me on the prowess and humble largess of the Mexican people. The whole family would tend (FOOD+) after me
while the mecanico repurposed some inanimate object to effect a cure. Painfully and slowly a cuenta would be considered. Seldom would any paper be
involved. The ensuing result always left me gobsmacked. You should be so lucky.

I bet you could have paid Junior to take you to the San Pablo visita???
See Junior in front of his Vizcaino auto shop (with a barking dog) and our day with him going to San Pablo... it was fantastic! This episode is 8
minutes and includes San Ignacio and Ricky Brabec (Dakar and Baja m/c champion). The giant dirt devil was at the big farm the road goes around getting
to San Pablo.
