Living in the Baja
My wife and I are putting a plan together to spring out of the US and set up residence in BOLA. A couple of questions came up that we need answers
to. Maybe some of you either live down there full time or spend extended periods of time can answer them. Is there mail service? Are american bank
accounts accessable via local ATM's? And finally, what is the best method of handling routine and non-critical medical needs?

ATM
I don't know about Bola - but in San Felipe all we use is our atm thru our Las Vegas account - from what I understand all our mail will have to go to
a PO - we haven't moved from US yet - but this is what we were told

There is a mail forwarding service from GN...for a small fee of course. ATM...talk for long time, but I absolutely am positive that it will be in
place in short order (would not make it a decision point)...Bank longer time off and as another said, GN is the closest. Love the place, but I
assume if you are talking move you have considered what the summer weather is like....the word hot does not do it justice.
When searching for the end of your rainbow you only have until dusk....

Living in the Baja
Thanks for all the responses. In and of themselves each of these issues does'nt present a decision point. Rather, just another aspect of converting
to a "kinder and gentler" life style. We currently lease property in BOLA and have a pretty good idea of the weather situation. The heat I can
handle, the humidity is the thing I like least but I can live with it. There is just too much beauty there to be chased away by a little heat and
humidity! What the heck, if your diving, humidity is not an issue.

No ATM's here, although there were good intentions regarding that. As others have mentioned, Guerrero Negro has the closest ATM. You can also set up
mail to be delievered to the Post Office in Guerrero, but it's not the most timely manner of receiving mail.
Non-Critical Medical needs? Eat your Wheaties, get plenty of rest, eat your vegetables, bust a workout now and then, watch where you put your feet
and hands...staying healthy is the best prevention. There are two Doctors in town, and hopefully you won't need their services.
As far as summer goes, yeah it's hot. So? As my husband used to say, "when it's bad here, it's worse everywhere else..." And the hot weather is
the perfect excuse for avoiding heavy labor...better to head down to the playa, enjoy a cool drink, play some beach volleyball and ENJOY life.

Well said Mia!
Stan, instead of BOLA maybe call it 'Bahia' for short as the locals call it. Otherwise you will be on JR's p**che gringo list!
I remember Ferna on Amigos would ask, "Where is this BOW-LAH place?"
All in good fun, eh?
