10k Tijuana restaurants expected to close permanently

Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico (Border Report) — As many as 10,000 restaurants in the Tijuana region are expected to go out of business due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic according to Miguel Angel Bandiola, head of Mexico’s National Chamber of Restaurant and Food Providers.

One of the main reasons is the lack of clientele, which is mostly comprised of tourists from north of the border.

“We are committed to keeping as many of these businesses open while following the safety protocols,” Bandiola said. “I think we are seeing good results already.”

In Tijuana, the chamber of commerce says it is launching a campaign to stress the use of face coverings with the goal of slowing the spread of the virus so they can open more restaurants and other businesses as quickly as possible.

The campaign will be in place for the next two weeks with the public being encouraged to adhere to the recommendations and wear face masks.

“The general public need to use face coverings to the point it becomes habit, it’s the only way we will keep the virus from running rampant,” said Gina Villalobos, president of Tijuana’s Small Business Council.

If the number 10,000 seems high, you could be right.

The number is estimated to be 1000 restaurants in the following article, which references the same individual. And, this hasn't happened, it's one man's prediction.

"El dirigente señaló que mientras en Baja California y, en particular Tijuana, se estimaba la pérdida del 30% a 35% de los restaurantes, sin embargo, esta cifra disminuyó a 10%, lo que representa alrededor de mil establecimientos."

Chrome browser translation:

"The leader pointed out that while in Baja California and, in particular, Tijuana, the loss of 30% to 35% of restaurants was estimated, however, this figure decreased to 10%, which represents around a thousand establishments."

so someone explain this to me. Lets say all those restaurant close. So - the demand / customers that kept that place open, they have disappeared? they will not return? they will just quit going to restaurants for the rest of their lives?

I'm guessing that when this nightmare is controlled, people will be back, and the demand will be there. That means the opportunity for 10,000 entrepreneurs to be buying up locations and equipment from the closed down places, and hiring up all the workers. and the economy recovering in short order!

Economic downturns are temporary. guess how I know that? 1918, 1927, 1987, 2008. The pattern was the same every time - what makes you think this is any different?

Now in contrast, when you're dead, you're dead - You ain't coming back, unless your one of Jesus chosen who will rise up in the rapture and watch us heathens die in the raging inferno required to cleanse the earth! -

come to think of it, there is a business opportunity for the chosen, open up a restaurant during the rapture serving flambe Jews and Muslims! :?:

No evidence of a contagion has been isolated. Pure conjecture.

It's not required to prove a negative, if anyone has evidence that a unique COVID19 virus is isolated, (Which has never happened) please provide it. An assumption was made that someone had a flu like symptoms which is an illness and RNA was identified in a mucos, so an assumption was made, that is not evidence of illness caused by a unique virus. It should be easy to provide evidence that COVID19 is a unique virus that causes illness if it exists all over the world or any evidence of COVID19 as cause of death? Has never happened. People are ignorant of health, human terrain, cell theory, and exosomes and the fallacy of viral germ theory. People may have flu like symptoms, cough, fever etc. does not equate to the whole CV enchilada.

If I'm not mistaken, AIDS has never killed anyone either. It's just other diseases (pneumonia, Kaposi sarcoma, etc.) that take advantage of the immune system door opened by the AIDS virus. Recorded by doctors as "death by AIDS related complications" on death certificates.

So, I guess AIDS does not exist as a deadly threat?

Also, people that jump off bridges and buildings never die because of gravity. They die of "blunt force trauma" related to the effects of gravity when they hit the ground.

Your attempts to come across on this forum as a critical thinker continue to fall far short. Miserably short. But, keep droning on with your word salads, ageist insults, and links to mumbo-jumbo, we all need a good laugh during these crazy times. Everyone loves a clown, and we all love you.

absolute pure 100 % Bullsh$t Gnuey, and you know it.

the virus was isolated, named, tested, we know its molecular shape - we know it causes the disease., and we know how it causes the disease, and that info BTW is how we are building various vaccines. Thats the facts!

you can put your fingers in your ears , shut your eyes and scream nanernanernaneer - but guess what - when you are done throwing your ignorance tantrum - the facts are still there, the science is still there!

But never you worry - You have Dr. Dunning and Mr. Kruger on your side - so you've got that going for you!

I contacted borderreport.com about their inaccurate statement of 10,000 restaurants closing and, perhaps coincidentally, they have changed the title to "thousands" and later in the article say:

"The number has been redacted to about 1,000."

Even that sounds high to me.

Don't believe everything you read.
