New traffic ticketing process in Tijuana?

looks like there will be a new process for paying fines for Americans traveling through Tijuana.

I find it interesting that the fine for driving drunk is less than speeding. :?:

“ Motorists cutting someone off in line before crossing back into San Diego can receive a 2606-peso ($116) fine.”

Since when did merging or changing lanes become a traffic infraction?

In border line, i see impatient people change lanes (cut line) if you leave so much as a 4 ft gap between cars...

Woke!

mtngoat666,
I'm guessing that "cutting" in is not the same as a lane change. Cutting in is a problem at Tecate, where someone can go up a side street and cut to the front of the line. Also at Otay SENTRI where a vehicle can cut in from a side street or drive along the Taxi/Bus lane to the front and cut in.

When was the last time you went through Tecate? There is a wall of jersey barriers separating the two border traffic lines from the residential side streets. It's been the same for the last three years I believe.

Subjective fines determined by the municipal police. :wow:

Another experiment in Tijuana it seems. My concerns would be an increasing amount of foreign travelers reporting receipt of "serious" infractions - and their associated fines - for "driving while gringo", etc.

The article in El Imparcial gives some different (and higher) fine amounts. Example:

Quote:
