FUN FLYING BAJA Stories

I have an old DVD produced in 1995-6 that has some interesting points of interest. There is now a YouTube channel (link below) that has this same video (and more). Good thing, because it is hard to find a DVD machine to play these old videos and the tapes themselves get "eaten" up by the machine.

This thread is meant to draw out the stories from other pilots that have some good photos/videos and stories to share.

Enjoy!

Keep in mind it is NOT so "easy" these days to do what Rick Roessler has done! Filing now is a pain in the rump! The good old days were Golden.

That was pretty good... Saw Dave and Juanita at Cielito Lindo, too!

I hope to see the second half, flying the gulf side of Baja!

I really enjoyed the film. It brought back a lot of good memories.
However I did note two things I'm surprised DK didn't catch.

1- He said the completion of Hwy 1 where north and south met was at
Laguna Chapala.

2- The spelling of Santa Rosalillita in the video was Rosalita.

Oh, I made notes... I am watching the Gulf side one now...
'Baja 1' vs Mexico 1 for the highway
'Baja del Sur' vs Baja California Sur for the state

Santa Rosalillita was being called Santa Rosalia

He was 'close' with Chapala... as we know the highway crews met at San Ignacito, south of CataviƱa.

It was nice to see eagle monument still proudly perched and not hidden by the trees and the military base walls.

Finished the gulf side... liked it better because I go that side more often. So nice to see Punta San Francisquito in its glory days!

The most pronounced ooops I heard was calling Punta Bufeo "San Bufeo" twice (but the text had it correct).

Thanks steekers for the links!
