There are many good hotels in San Felipe. Prices run up to $90 a night. El Capitain is about $45. El Cortez $55. I hear George's hotel is a good place to stay but I don't know the price, great location between two really good places to eat, George's resturant and El Nino's steak house.

From first-hand experience we can attest to George's Motel as a good place to stay ($49/night Dbl), and you have the choice of eating next door at George's Restaurant or the other next door at El Nido.

There's also the the San Felipe Inn which is north of the Malecon and a little off the beaten track, so it's quiet and they have a secure courtyard. Our son-in-law and his father stayed there during the SF 250 and liked it very much. During the race week-ends and high-tourist time Sal has a 3-night minimum at $67.20 per night, but then so do most of the motels. The SF Inn is clean, has TV, but with no amenities--much like the Costa Azul but without the noise of the Malecon. It?s 2 blocks north of Miramar Cantina on the left--on Mar de Cortez, I believe.

Then if you want to go up-scale there is Las Misiones or the Cortez, and south of town the Marina Motel.

If none of those work out, tell your friend to check out one of the other numerous places to stay, then he can recommend it (or not) to us. :)

El Nido Restaurant: Avenue Mar de Cortes. Phone 7-10-28 (this number may be incorrect)
Excellent doorman! The front door will be opened for you each and every time. This guy is good! Try sneaking to that door and see! He WILL see you no matter how! I ordered N.Y. steak, potatoes, and salad. Wify got the Seafood platter. $35 US. If you are dying for an ?American? dinner, this is the place to go.

George?s Motel: This place is right next to the El Nido. Excellent room. Even had a spare toothbrush sitting in the bathroom?s condiments basket! Hugh room. Fresh paint. Updated. I?m a primitive camper, and this place is swell for the needed luxury. Rooms are $52. US

Day and Night Mini Market: off Mar Caribe Norte (near the town?s round a bout). This is the place to buy gas. SELF SERVICE. No attendant to do you in! Has minimal food items.

Campo El Pescador: A rare find! Location is north of town out by the large rock mountain. Look up location in your ?Baja California Almanac. If you hate Pete?s Camp for all the noise and crowds, this place is totally gorgeous. Hard to believe it?s so close to the city! Has an enclosed toilet, running faucet water. Take a solar shower bag with you, and some firewood. Has no trash laying about. Good fishing (I was told). This camp is the best-kept secret in this area! $8 US
Go to the El Dorado RV park (not the beach side of the hiway) for your hot showers and washing clothes, in case you go camping, They have a washing service there to for $5.00 US DOL per load. Excellent, excellent, and excellent! Do not plan to stay at this dump of a RV park BTW!
The boardwalk has excellent "foodies". Do try the fish tacos down there, at any of the shacks. About a $1.00 US DOL each. Dont worry...I have been eating from these shacks and never gotten sick. Rice and Beans Restaurant is very good too. About $6.00 US DOL per person
Do a search at this website (the search tool is right under this page's Title) for Bajalou and DavidK. You will see a infinite writings of outdoor activies to do in the San Felipe area.
Moving? Go buzz in at Campos Octillio. Ask for Savadaor. All residents there are cool to the extreme. A good place to settle in near the beach.

Below is Campo El Pescador

What control freaks there are here. Don\'t believe that post you just read!
