Items needed in San Juanico?
Hey everyone. My family will be taking a trip down after Christmas to check on our property and take care of a few other items.
We would LOVE to be able to bring some items to contribute to the community.
1) Is there anyone on the ground in San Juanico that can give me any information about items that would be needed or beneficial for the community?
I'm thinking essential personal items (toiletries, etc), dog food, baby supplies (diapers, formula, etc). Maybe PPE?
2) Does anyone care to contribute to our effort to bring essential items down to this community?
Thanks!!

I think you should bring a video from Jacques Costeau showing how the nets they use are destroying the entire ocean they survive on. The hundreds of
turtles they kill recklessly are 50 years old along with all the other species, all to catch a few White Sea bass or Halibut. Save the PPE, we were
there last month and nobody wears masks anywhere. Safe travels.

I love pack for a purpose!
Students all over so need supplies. My suggestion is to stop by the DIF or visit the delegado! Great way to make a new friend.
Also, there are groups in the States who donate things for free. They are called BUY NOTHING (and the name of the neighborhood you live in). No
one is allowed to sell, the whole idea is to share with neighbors. I have taken my clothes to offer there and I have been given so much stuff fir the
scholarship students when I am at my Mom's in San Diego. Highly recommend.

Anything that helps the locals is always a great cause, it's been a bit slower in Baja this year, so, I'm sure any basic stuff as you mentioned would
be appreciated.
Yup, the fishing has been impacted by the only ticket on the coast, commercial fishing.....It has pulled otherwise destitute villages into the
middle class, or at least a good living.
That said, its brutal when you see the impact it has on the enviornment, thinking most of these communities are seeing this a little clearer now

It's gearing up to be a cold winter, 56 degrees out right now as I write this. Blankets, hats, coats, etc. for town kids would be greatly
appreciated. Dalia can distribute items and also feeds several needy kids in town so $peso donations go far with her as well, she lives across from
the Friday market next to the Salon (she sells Sopes) or U2U me to arrange.

Remember to place all clothes being brought down inside a suitcase, as if they were yours.
As far as I know, it is still not OK to donate clothes and besides taking all the clothes, your vehicle can also be confiscated.
Once when drove south, I was told that as a female I was only allowed to bring clothes for a woman, men could only bring men's clothes.
