More fences

1) South of the Diablo lake bed we find the old race road leading south from the crossover between east and west valley road. A common way to travel when heading south to access the several arroyos from the west. The old windmill* is now living quarters for several persons and we now find a very long new fence leading east and west. There is a fence gate at this place and the guys allowed us to proceed after opening the gate. So if anyone is there you should be good. The gate did not have a chain and lock. Only Spanish speaking guys.
* Do not confuse this windmill with the one on the west valley road at Algodon.

2) South and east of the windmill there is another experimental garden financed by Rafael (owner of Petes camp). I was not aware of it when we passed thru so did not get to locate it and take pictures. I will find another day.

3) Driving west from Morelia junction the route takes you to the dike and then leads northerly. On the old location where the huge cabbage farm was we find large fenced area growing various veggies. They have an operating well and piping and several workers. The road just follows their fence and allows normal passage to the south part of Diablo lake.

I will be riding through there April, coming up from Matomi wash. Our plan is stay as far west as possible as we proceed north towards Diablo and the oasis.

Will this fence cause an issue?

David,

Thanks for the maps. The 2nd one, we will be running up to Algodon, El Cajon and what you have labeled, West Valley Rd.

Just curious where the fence is that the OP mentioned. I am not too worried about getting around it as I have the E32 mapset and in that area, lots of roads to get around. Just adds a little more work on the spot...and digging the ol'reading glasses out.

I enjoy reading all your posts. Good stuff.

Stay on the race road because they have a gate thru the new fence. Yes, east valley then west valley road then keep to the west race road.
BTW, Slaltio, east valley and west valley road as far as Agua Caliente are freshly graded last week. Really nice because the washouts are gone and new smaller gravel has been used in some places that used to be sand.
