Mission Santa María in the 1960s by Choral Pepper

One of the photos Choral took on the many Erle Stanley Gardner expeditions was this color image with the 'Grasshopper' buggies at Santa María.

I don't have a year, but it would most likely be between 1964 and 1969 as those were the years that Pepper was on the Gardner trips. The road was not yet completed to the mission when traveled by Howard Gulick in 1961.

I also am adding a photo of Choral with Gardner.
This is one of many from Choral's camera that I have been given after Choral passed away in 2002. Here are more of that collection: http://vivabaja.com/choralpepper/

I hope to soon have more photos from Gardner's own camera to share.
