John Langley (78) of Cops Racing (and creator of the TV show) dies, racing in Baja
Translated from Facebook's San Felipe Chatter page:
The creator of the hit Cops TV show John Langley passed away today in the 24th edition of the Record Ensenada-San Felipe 250 race from a heart attack,
the event promoter Ramón Castro reported.
Langley was taking part in the second date of the 2021 Record Off-road Series championship with his son Zak, fighting for overalls and win in the Open
Class aboard his 50th Trophy Truck, suffering the heart attack the height of San Matias, being treated by medical personnel and dying at the height of
kilometer 77 of Ensenada-San Felipe road.
Possessor of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, John became a passionate Off-Road for over 10 years, winning the Baja 1000 and Baja 500 with the
Cops Racing team ..
The driver born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was 78 years old and was making a legal lawsuit with Score International, a company that vetoed him from
his events, which is why he chose to run more in events involving Mexican promoters, such as was the case today for Record.
His mourning-filled departure to his family, friends, and the world of Off-Road in general, by repeatedly supporting Mexican teams to run at Score
International, as was the case of the Ensenadian René Rodriguez, who won the title of Class 11 for Cops Racing, Rest In Peace.

Too bad Score and Cops can't figure out a solution to their issue. Miss the Cops team.

Never heard of such feud. What is the disagreement?
Woke!
“...ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” “My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America
will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.”

I can't find a great article but it had to do with Cops suing Score due to an accident and the race wouldn't cover insurance or something to that
measure. Score banned Cops at the last minute at last year's race. https://www.courthousenews.com/death-in-baja-off-road-race-c...

That article sure makes it sound like SCORE was careless and negligent: After they caused the crash thru irresponsible course design, poor
communication and poor race control, they left the victim to bleed out.
Woke!

If you have to go, go fast doing something you love. Still a sad day but better then being in a hospital bed waiting for it to happen.

You are right, no connection! That is a 2018 article and perhaps the wrong story... Zac?

All I remember is last year, Score told Cops they couldn't race the 1000 a few days before the race. I read the story on the Cops FB page. We were
bummed.

He drove the race car. It doesn't say but most likely he was the owner since the major sponsor was COPS. He created the COPS TV show.

We have raced with the cops for several years, shared the same hotel's
a lot! They were a good bunch of guys. We stayed in the San Nicolas
hotel Friday non race related, but had a chance to talk to a few of the team! Our prayers to all of them. They will be missed.
