Max Kurillo turns 91 today! His paper on Mission San Pedro Mártir

Happy birthday to my publishing partner and co-author of two books, Max Kurillo!

His 1997 paper on the highest California mission was recently featured: https://www.academia.edu/7067472/A_Visual_Survey_of_a_Domini...

Max and I, with Edie Littlefield Sundby, the Mission Walker, three years ago at Max's home...

Max may be best known for his work on the El Camino Real bells and was a guest on Huell Howser's TV show, twice. We are holding our latest books, in 2018.

This week, Max is in Hawaii with his lady, Sharon, on vacation and having fun.

Here are a few past photos of Max Kurillo, after we published our first book together... in 2012

We met the governor of Baja California and mayor of Tecate, to present them with our new book, 'The Old Missions of Baja & Alta California, 1697-1834':

At the Guadalupe (del Norte) mission site:

At the Discover Baja Travel Club Christmas party:

Here is one of Max's big appearances on the Huell Howser El Camino Real show:

In 2006, we Nomads met Max the for first time as he joined us in Tijuana for the Viva Baja Cactus tour and dinner, hosted by Antonio (Baja Cactus).

Happy Birthday Max!

Happy Birthday Max. Enjoyed reading your paper and it reminded me of our backpack to the mission. I recall the many potsherds and other artifacts laying around and little effects from recent human activity.

That was the Discover Baja Travel Club office bookshelf. Max's home is pretty much filled with bells, El Camino Real bells.

I spot the ironwood bighorn sheep sculpture we all have! Discover Baja has so many wonderful things for sale.

Happy birthday in Hawaii!
