Driving from Loreto to La Paz area

We are doing a multi-day sea kayaking trip out of Loreto, then afterwards we plan to head to La Paz. As the trip finishes early afternoon, we know
it's probably not practical to drive all the way to La Paz that day as it'll probably be getting dark. But I'm wondering if we can drive some of the
way - is there any cool town or resort you recommend we stop at for a night on the way?

We enjoy surfing and mountain biking, beaches and anything else outdoors. We'll have a regular rental car (not an SUV).

you have probably looked at the map
the road to La Paz is almost entirely inland - no cool beaches, no resorts
driving about half way drops you into Ciudad Constitucion
a farming town
as exciting as a US farming town
stay in Loreto and enjoy the vibe there

Starts in Loreto and end in Loreto? Curious - what's your kayak route? If you're only arriving in Loreto and begun kayak trip, then you did not have
a chance to enjoy Loreto. Why rush? Stay in town, enjoy a nice meal, couple beers - drive into the Sierra Gigante to see the mission. What time of
year? Whales may be at Magdalena Bay (Jan - Apr).
