hmmm that interesting, some here have claimed a a bit better MPG with our non ethanol gas? where did you get that 15% number?

Our Hyundai has an mpg function. I compared US vs Mexican results for similar diving speeds. I noticed the same thing with my Nissan Rogue on prior
trips. Other people I know have noticed similar results in BSC.

I keep records of my Tacoma mileage on trips.
Compared to California gasoline, Pemex is indeed better on our motors and gives us better mileage.
The reason is pretty simple: California gasoline is only 90% gasoline and Pemex is 100% gasoline. Mexicans know that corn is for making tortillas not
diluting gasoline!

It might be the BCS gas. We didn't buy gas until the 28th parallel. That said there was a noticeable decrees in milage while in Mexico.

My Isuzu Trooper gets pretty poor mileage overall, but it seems to do as well, or better on Mexico gasoline. The Kia Sportage I sometimes drove down
Baja is fussy about what is in the tank, and it seems to me to do better S.O.B.!
There is always the possibility of getting bad gasoline from a contaminated tank along the way. It has happened to me a couple of times.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

The prices per liter in the Ensenada area have dropped a little. Some stations are priced at $19.20 Pesos per liter.
The COSTCO in Ensenada is now selling gas. However, us locals have been disappointed in the pricing. It is only ½ Peso less than the other stations.
And you have to pump it yourself.
On top of that, you have to enter your membership card and a credit/debit card, or some cash into the pump. If you don't pump in what you need, you
have to apply for the refund.=, which may take 3-5 days...if at all.

My Toyota FJ is generally filled with Mexican gas. But at times I have to drive to the USA for a doctor's appointment of for some meds. When I fill
with US gas, my check engine light comes on after a few miles of US gas.
Then after two tanks of Mexican gas, my check engine light just goes off.

I enter Mexico with an empty gas can (as legally required) but always return to the US with a full can. My small engines do better without the
ethanol and other additives blend.
The CA stuff is hard on fuel lines, diaphragms and seals in small carbureted engines.

17.90 in Rosarito. true ethanol no bueno but if you gas up here at a Chevron Techron is mothers milk for your engine
there's only two things in life but I forget what they are........

It seems a silly issue for sure. If a few centavos per liter is going to make or break your budget, just stay home, or rethink your trip. When you
need gas, you need gas, no matter the price. It's part of being on vacation to just not worry about a few piddling centavos here and there. JMHO.
Or, maybe start a GoFundMe page to solicit gas money?

I asked about the prices because for my style of Baja travel, gasoline is my biggest expense. I would not 'cancel' a trip because of high fuel
prices, but would modify my plan to minimize the cost.
For this trip, I am considering leaving the Trooper home and driving my Sportage soft top back SOB for another round! The Trooper has proved to be
and excellent adventure rig for me, but the Sportage is also a lot of fun and gets almost twice the miles per gallon.
I have also decided to spend more time in the north, checking out places I have always blown through on the way to BCS.
I am in Northern CA right now, so I have a considerable amount of fuel consumption just getting to and from the border.
