New Surf Alliance for the Pacifico Norte Zone
This is a little video I put together of our
Representatives from Bahia Tortugas who are forming a new alliance of surfers in the Pacifo Norte zone visited the coastal villages of Bahia
Asuncion, Punta Abreojos & La Bocana. They met with locals to discuss ideas to promote the surf culture and get the youth motivated to participate
in the sport. We hope to have local tournaments from which a selection of surfers from the area can be chosen based on a point system to send to
bigger tournaments.
To inspire the kids we are getting together gear like wet suits, boogie boards, surf board, wax, leashes, fins etc. to stock a lending bank for kids
to sign out gear to use. So if anyone coming down has anything to donate it would be much appreciated. The plan here is to give free lessons and
workshops on the beach about water safety, ecology, fitness etc and of course surf coaching. Our mission is to get kids off their devices and get into
the ocean! Viva Surf in Baja!

That's cool.
Also consider making your organization about more than surfing. Lots of related sports for beach culture, like outrigger canoe, SUP, surfski,
sailing, etc.
Good thing about your area is that it would be cheap cheap to have waterfront land for storing OCs and daysailers.
Woke!

Just take the video address number and put it between and (without the extra spaces I added)
Unfortunately, this address is not good:
4ALncL7lvLw1
I searched YouTube to get the correct address: 4ALncL7lvLw

I can never get enough of the whale love, and in turn, your love for the whales. Thanks Shari. And Doug for the posting.
Next year can't come soon enough. Peace and love [Ringo] and always some fish tacos thrown in.

Shari, I have a wet suit that I should donate. It fit me when I retired, but after only a couple of years in storage, it is embarrassing to try it
zip it up!
Who knew that neoprene shrunk? My plan is to be down near there before Christmas, but I don't have a schedule.
The suit has only been worn a couple of times, and never peed in!
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

thank you for getting the video to work!
thanks AKgringo for the shrunken suit...hahaha.
This particular effort is to develop a selection of surfers from our area of the coast but in our kids program we will explore and expose the kids to
all kinds of ocean sports and ecology.

I have an old wetsuit that is in good shape. I'm going to try and stop in after the 1000 on our way back up the peninsula for some fishing and such so
I'll throw it in the truck for you.

workshop here too.
Our local tournament is being planned for the next couple weeks.

PACNOR SURF ALLIANCE
We are a group of ocean loving surfers of all ages who have come together to unite the Central Pacific coastal towns of Baja California Sur. The idea
was born with a group of surfers in Bahia Tortugas who visited the villages of Bahia Asuncion, Punta Abreojos & La Bocana to invite us to
participate in the new PacNor Surf alliance in hopes of sending representatives from the zone to bigger tournaments.
By organizing a surf tournament circuit in the region, we bring back the excitement of a challenge, with a chance of moving up in a point system to
form a team of representatives from the zone. One of our many goals is to motivate young surfers to work hard and set goals that we can help them
achieve.
The PacNor Surf Club in Bahia Asuncion aims to bring back surfing as a community sport, not only to compete but to teach the youth to swim, surf,
water safety as well as educate people how important it is to take care of our villages, coastline, oceans and one another.
We are working on outfitting a club house at the beach where we will have a lending library of wetsuits, surf & boogie boards, leashes, fins, wax
etc. so even kids with no gear can participate and learn.
It will be a place where we can meet and plan events and fundraisers to help the club raise money to send the members to tournaments. Perhaps a small
store with souvenirs and surf gear too in the future.
With help from our sponsors and donations from visitors & friends, the clubhouse and lending library will grow and help more kids. We have lots of
great ideas and the kids are stoked about the future!
Help us help them with a donation!
Here are some photos of our surf days, lessons and Sirenita talking to the Governor yesterday to get some funding for travel to tournaments!
Here are our kids at the Bahia Tortugas tournament
Sunday Surf days to give kids swimming and surf lessons and beach clean ups followed by food!
Baja Boy's daughter is part of the team!
Sirena bending the Governors ear and she got some funding!
all the kids help prepare the food

That's just awesome! Just wonderful to see the local kids getting to participate and learning the activities so many of us take for granted.
Very well done Shari, Sirena, sponsors, donators and all those who are helping to put the local kids in and on the ocean's waters., their waters!
