Go to the Edit Profile page of your User Control Panel, and paste into the "Avatar URL" box a web URL of the avatar image you like:

http://forums.bajanomad.com/memcp.php?action=profile

It seems to me that your the avatar image you use must already be on the internet somewhere, not just on your computer hard drive.

Not at all... many of us here use the FREE photo hosting site at www.postimages.org
The only thing you have to do is click on the dropdown menu that now says "Do not resize my image" and change to the size you need to share on Nomad. Most of us use 800 pixels or 640 pixels for photos and maps. The Nomad forum is 800 pixels wide, so larger images will distort the page. The Avatar setting needs to be 100 or 150 pixels.

Next issue, I place the link to my avatar photo, the green words appear next to it state valid image. I do not see a save button anywhere. If I close, my avatar doesn't show in a post, if I click on the edit profile, same thing, nothing shows, shouldn't there be a save button?

You have to post more to have an avatar. Once you are above Newbie status.
Other issues contact BajaNomad (Doug) as this is his baby.

There is a save button. The button reads "Edit Profile".

There's no saved avatar URL in your profile right now.

The avatar will display once you're reached 25 valid posts, per the FAQ:
http://forums.bajanomad.com/faq.php?page=using#7

I've been on this site for many years and have posted images and used several avatars. Now my avatar has vanished and nothing I do gets it back or replaces it.
Am I banned from posting the avatar for some reason?

Hi Marc, see the directions given to Perrro Viejo. Maybe the source of your avatar image has vanished? If it was saved on your computer vs. linked off a website, it should work. If you tried all the steps mentioned to Perrro Viejo, contact Doug (BajaNomad).
