US Dollar Account
Hi Folks, What Bank in La Paz is opening/accepting a Dollar account for expats? I do not want to go with Bancomer. Fideicomisos are disappearing at
Bancomer I heard. True or not??? Just don´t want to go with them. Banamex - I don´t like. So who else? THX for any input.

I was told this is the only bank in Mexico you can open an account in with a tourist Visa. In order to pay Hughesnet bills and municipal taxes online
from Canada it looks like this is my only option. Otherwise I need someone living in Mexico to go into an OXXO and pay them in cash and transfer the
funds to their account.

Thanks for the responds gnu and JD. But, I am in Cabo San Lucas in person. Need the account in La Paz for an employee. He will get US Dollars
transferred from the U.S. and CDN. He has to keep US Dollars for some business.
Any other idea??? Any real bank handling USD accounts?

You should probably just contact the banks you are interested in by email or phone and ask? Things change often, many have dollar accounts but its not
easy to withdraw money in dollars, but yes you can transfer, you can also transfer dollars in many forms, also you can open an account for the
individual in USA often without being in person and without SS#, depending on the moment. Many open accounts without SS in USA, nor DL, just some form
of ID. Perhaps you can call your USA bank and ask if you can open an account with the person by sending documentation?

In usa you typically need SSN or ITIN to open acct. Some foreigners may be able to open acct with just passport number or similar govt ID

Dollar account for many years, although many changes and restrictions have been put in place when opening new accounts to limit laundering.
Also new limits on withdrawals, although intl. transfers very smooth, ie: transferwise.

@Cancamo. I do understand that every (Banorte) bank and branch are having the same rules and reguletions ,,, maybe. R U talking by any chance of
Banorte La Paz?
