Cabo Surf Fishing Newbie!!!

Hello everyone, my name is Dane and I am a new member to Baja Nomad. I will be traveling to Cabo in a few weeks and staying 4 days starting March 20th. I have experience surf fishing in socal but this will be my first time in Cabo. I plan on surf fishing everyday targeting roosterfish, jack crevalle, sierra, snapper, and whatever else bites! I am brining a 10 ft St. Croix Triumph Surf Travel Rod line wt. 8-20 lb and lure weight 3/4-4 oz. I plan on pairing it with a Penn Spinfisher 5500 and spooling it with 40 lb Power Pro. Do you think this setup will get the job done?

I am staying at Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos and plan on fishing South all the way to the rocks where I can hopefully find some snapper. I would appreciate any and all tips on information for fishing this area. Any knowledge on ideal tides, specific jigs / swimbaits / poppers, line, and other insights would help me out significantly. Thanks so much.

Tight Lines!!!

Dane

Welcome to Nomad!
If you strike out in Los Cabos, I am sure we Nomads have dynamite surf fishing spots on the other 3,000 miles of Baja coastline to suggest! Just search the Nomad Fishing forum for some ideas.
My best spot was near Laguna Manuela ('Variety Beach', as Nomad Whistler named it). Corbina, Croaker, Halibut, White Sea Bass, Calico Bass, plus sand sharks! It was 40 years ago when my dad and I fished there... so hopefully someone will share newer news for you!

There are one or 2 heavy hitters at the cape that throw a lure, long rods, long cast called Ranger. I'm more of an off the rocks,
throwing a chrome Krockidile spoon, or if I have any left
swimbait plastics, they will get chewed up. On fb, you may
find a couple guys that take tourists beach fishing, might get
a tip off their site. You didn't ask, but no license required for shore fishing

I would hire Wesley Brough for a day. He guides people in Cabo for, surf fishing excursions. Find him on social media as “Cabo Surf Caster”
