Bringing boat to Baja
I'm going to tow my boat with an outboard motor to Baja. Other than registration, what will need at the border?
Thanks

You need to get a TIP. 10 year temporary import permit.
Make sure you have insurance for towing and on the water use. Mexican insurance.
Baja Bound lets you add tow vehicles to your policy pretty easily. You'll need another company for on the water coverage

Are they requiring the 10 year TIP on Rvs that enter Baja?

Size matters
If you are bringing a small boat (under 14 feet?) you do not need a TIP.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

Is a TIP needed for these foreign boats:
Boat under 14 feet?
Sailboat greater than 14 feet w/o motor?
Kayak, rowboat or SUP >14’
Warship?
Superyacht?
Commercial shipper? (E.g. container ship, bulk carrier, etc.)
Cruise ship?
Queen Elizabeth’s Royal yacht?
Speed Racer’s Mach 5 (combination car, boat, submarine, airplane)?
Woke!

It is not necessary that a boat be registered in the U S to be granted a TIP to Mexico. The last boat I imported I applied for and received the TIP
before taking delivery of the boat from the manufacturer in Florida. Neither then nor when the original TIP was renewed in 2020 was the boat
registered in the U S. Actual ownership of the boat, not U S registration, was required for both the original TIP and the renewal 10 years later.

What I've used to get a TIP is my Coast Guard Certificate of Documentation.
Boats over a certain size can have either a CoD with the CG or a state registration.
Sounds like Bill is saying is that in addition to a registration or CoD you can use title to the boat.

I've had 4 TIPs on different trailered boats over the years. Every TIP included the trailer vin number. Like stated already, bring trailer reg.
