These are the responses I’m getting…
“Good morning, welcome to Ride Baja Mexican Insurance.
Unfortunately HDI Mexican Insurance carrier won't allow us to insure Mexican registered UTV's.”
“ Thanks for reaching out to Baja Bound!
I'm sorry, but we do not offer coverage for Mexican plated vehicles.”
And many seem to not actually cover off-road and or non street legal UTVs…
“Mexican ATV insurance is limited to conventional use on regular roads for street legal, registered ATV/UTV units. Off-road use is not covered and
coverage does extend to towing with the ATV. Not to be confused with having the ATV covered while being towed on your regular auto policy (covered
next).
This means your coverage will not extend beyond the township roads and common routes and it has basic limitations. Getting around town and cruising
legal roads however is covered on your ATV/UTV.”

I don't see myself owning a Baja plated vehicle in the near future, but I am curious if you were looking for covering the vehicle (damage or towing)
or just liability? Does it make a difference?

Maybe I’m in a unique position as I’m a US citizen, living full-time in Mexico with legal MX Permanent Resident status… and I just purchased a
new 2022 Mexican 🇲🇽 RZR from a Mexican dealership in Baja 🇲🇽. I’m looking to obtain Mexican insurance (primarily for theft coverage)
& most likely liability insurance to be fully legal when on some paved Mexican Highways/Roads_ with coverage both on & off-road. I don’t own
a trailer, won’t be trailering, and don’t need trailering coverage.

I didn't know it mattered if it was Mex plated or not. I'm from the US and my SXS is plated in Nevada, so I've never had a problem. Good luck and let
us know what you find.

Have you asked the Mexican dealership how it could be insured? It's probably not their first rodeo selling to an expat gringo. I would assume if they
do any type of vehicle finance, they will require the vehicle have insurance. Clearly, it seems yours is not. However...
There must be a Mexican insurance company to write a policy. BajaBound and others are just agents for the Mexican companies, they probably have
limited scope in what insurance they can offer. The Mexicans want to protect their market, as do the Americans.

Yes. The dealership does have a connection/referral to Quálitas.
I’m hoping to have another option or two for comparison of coverage options & rates.

Has anyone had issues with authorities stopping your UTV on Baja roadways, paved and or paved, and inquired to see your Mexican liability coverage
documentation?

How about talking to a local Mexican insurance broker? They would have no problem covering a Mexican plated vehicle.

Haven’t had much luck with that…
Other then the Dealership’s connection with Quálitas, which provided a quote much higher then anticipated, I haven’t been able to locate another_
I am awaiting, hopefully Tuesday, a response from the MX Broker that we had our 24’ Mexican Excursion Style Panga insured through.
