It is good to know that some [or all?] of these ruins are being preserved with a protective coating. Out of curiosity, how long has that been happening?

The protection of [some of] the adobe mission ruins began around 20 years ago. Some of the missions have had no preservation at all, or at least no coating added to wall remains (if there were any): Santo Tomás (3 sites); Santa Catalina; San Pedro Mártir; San Fernando; Santa María (2 sites*).
*Calamajué was the first site.

Someplace I had old book about missions. It showed San Vicente mission in 1973 said it will be rebuilt soon. David have you seen the book from Rancho Meling ? much info about San Vicente .

The link I provided has a photo at Calamajué... Only outlines of the former adobe walls. As with the the others I named, no protection or preservation of the site.
