it sank as it was being towed away, it sank in deeper water away from balandra bay. Not much else to know!
Woke!

I wonder how deep it is. There might be some easy pickings for SCUBA divers.

interesting that the salvage company "lost" the wreck just outside the protected Balandra reserve in very deep waters. Plan is, to leave her there.
Owner of the yacht is a powerful businessman/politician in Mexico. Some dech hand will go to jail for 10 years and all will be fine.

reason behind this boat disaster is the regulation that only a small number of cars and their passengers can visit Balandra every day (too much fecal
matter in the water). They way out, if you had to visit Balandra, was to hire a panga to ship you there. Lotsa road signs "Balandra boat taxi here".
No restrictions on the number boats (someone in the government "forgot" that possibility)

one of the papers above states that the maximum boat size in the Balandra protected zone is 12 meters.
I pulled up some recent Google Earth images.
About half the boats are way past 12 meters in length.
every single boat in the image below is larger than 12 meters
the largest one in the center is 20 meters
