South from Tecate on 2D
Has anybody driven this lately? I saw that there were a lot of big rocks on the road after the last storm. Gracias :-)

Hwy. #2-D goes west from Tecate, #3 goes south. I have not seen any reports from either.

Highway 2 D also runs east to a junction with highway 5. I don't know of any reports of rocks on the road, but there would certainly be a potential
of that on the Rumorosa grade.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

AK that's what I was asking about...I saw lots of rocks in the road on that hill a couple weeks back. It looks like we will have problems further
south as well because of what happened in Santa Rosalia and Muleje

I was astonished by the pics that were posted from Mulege and Santa Rosalia! I drove that road just a couple of days before the last storm, and it
was no big deal.
Wherever you drive, use more than usual caution anywhere near the edge of the pavement. The usual "inadequate" shoulders are even less stable, and
even undercut in a few places.
The truck drivers are doing that, so passing or oncoming trucks is tighter than normal clearance.

Highway 2D east of the toll booth at La Rumorosa was briefly closed due to rockfall during Tropical Storm Kay. There was a large pile of rock,
completely blocking lanes. Heavy equipment was working to clear it, even before the rain stopped. I'm sure it was open within a day. A high priority
as it is the main artery connecting the peninsula to the mainland.
There used to be a FIARUM webcam at the Rumorosa toll booth. It was great for getting real-time status of traffic flow and weather/snow conditions.
The link is broken, so the camera may have been deactivated a couple years ago.

Gracias Maderita! I figured it was cleared pretty quickly but wanted to be sure. From what I've read it looks like people are getting through Santa
Rosalia already so I think we will go ahead and hit the road tomorrow. Will post a road condition update when I can. Our plan is to cross at Tecate,
spend the night at Papa Fernandez, next night at Playa Santispac, then on to La Ventana.
Cheers
Bruce

Ah... so you are going on 2-D, EAST from Tecate, then SOUTH on Hwy. 5. I do read things pretty literally! Have a great trip.

No worries... the 2-D south part just didn't compute without hearing more of your destination! Viva Baja!
