Printer blues in San Felipe

What is a good printer that I can purchase north of the border (way cheaper) but buy ink for south of the border, ideally in San Felipe? AND what is a good printer where the ink will last for a few years with infrequent use? Must I go to a laser instead of an inkjet for this?

My US purchased HP 2700 printer uses ink only sold in the USA (67). The same model printer sold in Mexico uses ink 667 which can be bought in San Felipe. But they are not compatible so I have to buy ink from the USA. And to make matters worse the ink seems to die (dry out or clump up I suppose) over the summer so it needs frequent new ink.

I've never met an ink jet printer whose jets would not clog if sitting unused. A laser printer doesn't have this issue.

Get a laser. Inkjet printers are just a was of money and a source of aggravation having to deal with dried up ink cartridges. Some won't even print in black if one color cartridge is dry or empty.

I have found that ink jet printers are fine for occasional use but need to be used every couple of weeks so they don't get clogged up.

The printer/ink thing is in itself a story of consumer-flockery with few equals.

I have 3 various models of Cannon printers. They typically sit unused for 6 months every year. I have never had clogged cartridges. Gave up on several other brands due to clogged cartridges. That switch to Cannon was about 10 years ago.

I gave up on Cannon. I have Epson in San Francisco & HP in Palm Springs. Both must sit for months at a time and clean up OK when started up after their long sleep. Always have a few boxes of replacement ink ready.
