Whales, Guerrero Negro at the end of February?

If I wait until the last week in February to go whale watching will I be to late? I'm watching San Diego news at the moment. Lots more rain inbound, lots more. I could get myself to Guerrero Negro next week if someone says I need to. I would like to stop a few places along the way. Saturday is when dry weather starts. ABC news has yellow and red patches of rain predicted.
