....that's excellent news for both cyclists and those that worry about them on the highway.
I can't imagine how they'll have a trail completed,with less than 3% on highway of 2000 miles,,,by fall this year.

As a mountain bike rider, I like the idea. But no matter how you slice it, 2000 miles is a lot of riding.

They should read about Mike Younghusband's walk from Tecate to Cabo, with his burro, Don-Kay.
Then Graham Mackintosh's 1997 adventure walk from Tecate to Loreto, with his burro, Misión, published as 'Journey with a Baja Burro'.
The scariest part for Graham was using the highway when he didn't have a dirt route or El Camino Real to use.

Yes on that I even saw mother on bicycle
with small trailer on back.Two young children.Mom please have your head examined.

They not only endanger themselves, every motorist and trucker is at extra risk. Drivers swerve to avoid the bicyclists often on a blind curve or
crest of a hill. They scare the &@!?, out of me and most don't have a clue.

They have caused many
head on collisions,The paved roads here are just to narrow.So if this off road route for bicycles,gets done.It will be much safer for all.Only problem
every time it rains,no more road.I cant see them linking all the dirt roads,as some mountains.Too steep to link roads,good luck to all on that.

That thought occurred to me as well. Once they publish a map and GPS tracks, anyone can use them for a ride. I know I bookmarked the site to keep an
eye on.

They'll prolly be mostly on dirt roads used by locals. I've been in the middle of nowhere and come around a bend only to encounter a family in an old
Toyota headed home or to market.

I went on a off road ride (MOTO) few months ago in Rosarita.They where having a Dirt Bicycle event off road.We passed hundreds of Bicycles,even
hikers/horse back riders.We always give right of way to them.Offer them water.All Where happy thumbs up.Nice to off road in Baja.
