La Trinidad RV Ranch, La Ribera
A group of us stopped here for lunch yesterday for the first and last time. The orders comprised most of the lunch menu. I ordered a hamburger listed
on the menu at 150 peso. Just below was "with bacon and cheese" for 170 peso. I thought it was a bit pricey but ordered anyway. Turns out it was 170
on top of the 150 for a total of 320 pesos. It was mostly tasteless as is most hamburger in Baja. The price though was highway robbery. A good burger
at Red Robin wouldn't cost that much. BTW, the fries weren't any good either. The wife had a BLT, along with another woman, and it had one tiny slice
of tomato on it. I would not suggest the RV park or the restaurant.

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. We've been the La Trinidad numerous times in the past couple of years and had good experiences with
the service and food. I wouldn't call the food gourmet, but felt we got more or less what we paid for and enjoyed the ambiance and bird watching. We
have ordered the bacon cheeseburger several times and certainly have not been charged 320 pesos... perhaps it was new staff or some other error?

Didn't do well in math in school. I might have read this post wrong. $10 US for bacon and cheese extra, and a total of $20 for a burger.
Tell me this is wrong.
I'm guessing you found out the price after the meal when the bill came?
The BLT should have been sent back for more bacon -- or more sent out to the sandwich. Did anyone complain about this?
Something wrong with this picture. I'm not getting it.
If you're reviewing the restaurant, what about the RV park didn't you like? How about staying at the park but skipping the restaurant?

OBTS: Just curious, but you've been a member since 2010 on BN.... did any of you present speak bastante Espaņol at all? Did you question your bill,
or just pay up and shuffle out grumbling amongst yourselves? I've known small restaurants in Baja, and sometimes a large group (exactly how many of
you showed up to be fed?) can overwhelm staff that are not exactly prepared for large groups all at once, so number figures can get confused and
sometimes hijacked to tickets.
Not doubting your words or throwing rocks; everyone's been 'bitten' by mordida in Baja at least once, and shucks it off to the 'experience'...... but
above Q's have a little relevance. And, with all restaurants world-wide if it's the owner's day off, you're screwed....... que no?

I am guessing it was a new waiter or waitress and they made a mistake. there is no way it would be added to the original price!
We have been by the RV and the restaurant years ago - did not eat there - but thought the whole area was so fun with all the nick nacks everywhere.

Sorry, but the truth is the staff wasn't new and spoke fair English. It was just a normal Mexican rip-off. They got us once. There won't be a second
time. Some of the best places we have eaten is the little out-of-the-way spots off the main roads. As for the rv park, it is probably just as good as
most and maybe better than some but too far from the sea breeze for us. Happy travels to all.

"normal Mexican rip-off"
???
That's pretty sad.
Baja vacations always are better with positive and happy attitudes, I have found. Why vacation or live where any rip-off is "normal"?

Mike caters to well heeled gringo retirees and RV travelers who want to stay, eat, swim at a clean, quiet place not far from the beach. My wife and I
live on SS and we can't afford to visit with Mike all that often. His business style was to offer quality to attract high end campers and diners.
That business plan means the place will not attract the one beer and leave penny P-nchers; no moochers or barflys. He was hoping to keep the Riff
(like NORMAL MEXICAN RIPOFF PEOPLE) and the Raff, like the Capt. who he had to run off in the middle of the night for being drunk, rude, abusive.
Looks like his plan is working and no need for me to alert him about good news.

X2 Jorge, sounds like Mike's business plan is working.
(Paragraph break for reading ease). We go to Mikes place from time to time for dinner or a beer or 2 on an afternoon ride, we have known Mike and his
staff for numerous years. The food is good and the people are great. It's unfortunate that Oregon had a bad experience, spit happens sometimes. I
haven't had lunch there yet but I definitely want to try one of those 320 peso burgers, never had one of those. I'd keep writing but that would
require another paragraph break.

Well, I'm not sure how to respond to this post, I don't think
that the burger was overpriced at 170 pesos, considering what
you get for your buck.
I don't think a burger should cost more, and I don't think your
facts are accurate about being overcharged. If it did happen, I
appologize, and my staff also.
Capt k w You are never welcome here, due to your actions here
two years ago, If you remember, camping out in your old
volvo. I had to ask you to turn down your music, and you were
too drunk to comply, so you were asked to leave. You got
nasty, and I am glad that you left.

Haven`t been there for awhile but was very impressed by the facilities and Mike`s hospitality several years ago (time flies). Sorry you had a bad
lunch, hope you give it another shot.
PS-- Mike, what`s up?? Hope you`re still banging those bottom critters!!

WTF...!!! Just a couple of weeks ago I got a ticket in the mail from SBX125 the toll road, I confronted them and immediately I was reimbursed... plain
BS, these guys have a track history of doing this ALL the time; if you don't complain here or in Mexico then don't...!!! It's the same rip-off here as
anywhere else or does "gringolandia" have any exceptions...???

Seems like the locals like this place (well-heeled folks, apparently....whatever that means???...passed their obedience training?) and folks passing
through take their chances.
Maybe I will drop by next winter for lunch and see how my heels are described
