Hotel Mision Catavina contact info
Does anyone have a Mexican phone number for this hotel?
They have a toll free number from the US, but will be looking to make a reservation from Baja while we're northbound.

I'll try answering the question here, since I can't figure out where it was moved to.
Latest brochure I have from September 2015, the phone # is, 200 124 9123.

The area code has to start with 615 or 616, not 200.
I have a couple of US phone number for them: 866-332-3590 and 800-491-9657

I thought that was odd, but it's on the brochure I got from the Hotel Mision Santa Maria(their # is 616 165 9008, so the 200 must have been a typo).

Especially in whale season, it is nearly impossible to get a room there without a reservation.
A few years ago, we walked into the Desert Inn in San Ignacio and request they call ahead to Catavina for us. We got there around dusk, and many
people were being turned away, but our reservation was golden.
Have no idea if the place in San Ignacio is even related to the Catavina hotel these days.

Does anyone know if the Desert Inn in San Ignacio is connected to the Hotel Mission Catavina (which was once was a Desert Inn)? I wonder if they
called ahead for Bajahowodd just as a courtesy?

Ol' Wodd prolly has his own table reserved in the restaurant, with personal embroidered nappies. Went to school with Clinton, the Old Chap...

The Cataviña and Playa Santa María (south San Quintin) hotels are owned by Sr. Rodriguez (Los Pinos tomatoes). He bought them from Desert Inn.

Bajabreak is correct, the number to reach Cataviña is (200) 124-9123.
Cataviña has no land line phone service. Lines end at El Rosario. Hotel Misión has a Satellite phone and that is why the (200) area code. From Mexico
you have to dial (01-200) 124-9123.

Just curious, DK, inasmuch as you know so much about the family behind Los Pinos, what you know about the hotels from the old La Pinta/ Desert Inn
such as the one in San Ignacio and the one in Loreto.
Just who owns those properties? And especially the one in Loreto, because that property, while very long in the tooth these days, sits on a long
expanse of beach front on the sea Of Cortez.
I have wondered why the Villa Group sought to build where they did, essentially replacing what what a great eco-hotel Danzante that was lovingly run
by Lauren and Mike Farley on a property that is located far away from the town of Loreto, while the old Desert Inn property would have seemed to me
to be the better choice.

I don't know much about Rodriguez Family any more than what is common knowledge to Baja regulars.
They own Los Pinos tomato production.
The own Rancho Grande market, and the beach palapas and runways south of Alfonsina's. There was an illustration in the market, of a future hotel on
the beach back to about 1999, I recall.
In recent years, they bought the Desert Inn hotels (formerly La Pinta, formerly El Presidente) at Playa Santa María (South San Quintin) and Cataviña.
I think that's about the limit to my info on them?

When I stayed at the desert Inn in Loreto two of years ago the manager there said their headquarters was in Mexico City. I was complaining about the
restaurant and bar not being open when we were there in Nov. and he said it was headquarters orders to close them for the season. Whether that's true
or not I don't know.

Such a great location, but currently a crappy place to stay.
