I was an early adopter of uber. Then I quit them after they had security breaches of personal records and trip routes. And they rarely picked up in
my suburb, the app just said no luck, pound sand (not literally, I paraphrase). But that was a while ago, have they fixed those problems? I so
infrequently use cabs, I just use a real cab when I need such. I have read in the news that their drivers tend to frequently get busted for raping,
assaulting passengers, etc.; sounds like solo females should avoid, eh?
Anywho, seems like the TJ taxi drivers will take offense, and those uber drivers better take placard down when xing.

I use them 5 times a week. 200+ rides last year. Close to 100 already this year. At your house in less than 5 mins 90% of the time. 1/3 the cost
of a cab.
It's the greatest thing ever.

Uber’s process for onboarding drivers is dangerously negligent. Neither Uber nor Lyft uses fingerprints or law enforcement to background-check their
drivers. And Uber doesn’t even bother to meet with drivers in person before allowing them to ferry passengers.
The result is a series of incidents involving “ridesharing” passengers being harmed and criminal offenders behind the wheel.
Uber does not vet their drivers - they don't weed out the criminals and insane.

My next door neighbor here is La Paz just used Uber to get from San Diego airport to the CBX crossing at Otay Mesa. Said it was only $28 and worked
great!

This is what I come here for - entertainment.
This Uber service hasn't started yet - it will start today. I would wait and see for at least several months, how it will work out with Mex customs
in SY and overall performance.
You can't predict performance for this - very unusual - route, based on their performance NOB. On Uber website you will see reviews from all over the
world, and what they have in common is - irrelevant to your situation 
You can't predict prices - their software shows , say, route from SD to TJ central bus station costs 3 times the cost of Greyhound bus on the same
route. Greyhound uses same freeway and border crossing and doesn't makes any stops other than SY station - though they won't take you to some hotel in
TJ/Ens area.
Same Uber software shows about 1/2 cost of taxi from SD to SY, and 3/4 cost of shuttle (i.e. almost same price). The article claims Uber to be
"economic" solution? I donno.... Maybe it will cost less, or maybe more, or maybe their ride won't be available 5 times out of 10.
About border stop for FMM. Buses do this, Uber will have to do the same if passenger requests. This is another thing that takes time to sort out -
they should put a box to tick on the software app.
Btw, is Gato really a "goat" or "male cat" in Spanish?

What about the border return wait time for the Uber driver? I suppose with Sentri it could be feasible. I wonder if Sentri gets upset if you make 5+
trips a day? jaja

The article says "one way from San Diego". The other way - if activated - will likely be a one-way too. Wait time is a driver's problem (and
passenger's).
Being a commercial carrier, it would be odd to use Southbound lanes other than lane for buses and shuttles, and again the bus lane on Northbound (this
one is actually a Sentri).
This all is a guesswork at the moment.

With that attitude I'm surprised you'd ever venture into Mexico.

A lot of bad people around, yes sir. Like Mex cabbies, for example ... I've
heard they have lobbied Uber out of business, in Tijuana, "pending govt approval".
I'm a little curious how this all will play out - not much curious though. According to Uber, $100 from SD to TJ downtown, unless you share the ride.

Saw a new van in San Ysidro yesterday and it's a CBX Shuttle, very nice.
Looked it up and the rates are as low as they can get, from free to 8 Dlls.
Forget the abs and the Ubers, try the CBX Shuttle! The new ground transportation service for CBX

Just FYI If you worked in my line of work (LEO) now way would you be using Uber here in the states.........Not because of where i work but because of
what i know........Well if you care about your safety that is......
