Electronic registration for border crossing into MX
We are in route and the driver forgot his registration for his truck. Will they accept an electronic version? He has it on his phone

Crap shoot. Never been asked for truck registration. Been asked everytime for boat or bike registration.

Mexican officials like paper copies. Go to kinkos or Internet cafe and print it out. If you keep your important docs in the cloud (or on your
'puter) it's easy to print a copy anywhere you go.
I have never been asked for vehicle registration, but you never know what they will ask to see if you were to get into an accident,... Plus USA cops
may cite you if they stop you and you don't have copy of registration,...

I have never been asked either, except for when I made journeys down the mainland and needed a permit. I never volunteer information, it works best
when they get to ask for what they want on their schedule.
I was asked for my registration at the US border crossing on my way back north two years ago at Tecate. It may have been because my ID showed Alaska
residence, but I was driving a CA plated vehicle. Or it could have been because it was a slow day, I only had one car ahead of me that day!
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

good advice printing a copy.....we've been asked to see registration numerous times at checkpoints.

In all the years we we traveled Baja, we have never been asked for ownership papers on a vehicle at the border. In fact, I recall that the only time
we were ever asked for for proof of registration was at a Northbound military checkpoint near San Ignacio. We had the proof, but, I have to wonder
what might have happened out there if we did not.

I've never been asked in either direction, including several times both directions in a new car with no plates and once with a new motorcycle with no
plate going into Mexico.

Yes, stopping to print a copy is a good solution. You may not be asked for it. If you're stopped by a cop, he will ask for the registration. My
registration is always in my glove compartment.
I once went to Mexico to work and left the house without my wallet, which had my drivers license. I was too close to the border to turn back. I
would be paid, so I wasn't worried about money. As luck would have it, I got sent into secondary from the Sentri line. The inspector asked for
everything: registration, proof of insurance, passport, and drivers license. I told him of my mistake. He accepted it. After clearing secondary I
drove very carefully north of the border to avoid getting stopped by he Highway Patrol.
