| Big weekend in Rosarito

10 thousand beachgoers and the hotels are full.

Glad to see the town prosperous again. It took a big hit with the drug war, recession double whammy.

Now all they need to do is finish the toll road interchange near the Home Depot. That's been slow going.

the interchange is done and running smoothly, what they need to address is the deadly stretch of road from califia to puerto nuevo!

I have yet to read about the deaths between Calafia and Puerto Nuevo.

However, there is a very deadly stretch between the south end of Ensenada and Maneadero. Stay on the inside lane.

The southbound toll road exit to the Home Depot plaza is finished? Same question for the northbound entrance to the toll road from the plaza.

my bad...the southbound exit to the pabellon mall is not finished, there's a detour all the way back to the beach (rancho del mar) an easier way would
be the commercial road to mcdonalds or better yet right before the toll road pemex/oxxo there's a little street (where the alley bar is) that pops you
out at the electra store. northbound is done.

It was only a few years ago that we stopped at Puerto Nuevo for dinner around 6pm and were the only people in the town. I'm happy to see that business
has picked up. But seriously, the US border patrol has got to expedite cars at the border.

We used to go to Ensenada about twice a month for the weekend. Back then, we could cross back North in less than half an hour. First time we
encountered a three hour wait, we decided it was not worth it.

I bet it's going to be 4 hours at San Ysidro tomorrow afternoon. People know it and do it anyway. It's part of the deal.

Why the inside lane? Isn't that too close to the oncoming maniacs? I thought the outside lane was slower (a bit) and safer. Tell me.

You say tomato. I'd think staying away from oncoming traffic would increase survival rates by 80%. However you stay alive doesnt really matter on Hwy
1. Just do it!

A few weeks ago on a Thursday afternoon we went to Calypso near K38 for lunch. If you don't back into a parking space in front of the place you will
be exposing your self to real danger from the folks speeding down the old road trying to back out, or is it the folks on the road who are in danger of
the....... It is unfortunate what the widening of the road has done to shop keepers and other businesses along that stretch. I don't think we will be
going back to Calypso anytime soon or at least until they get valet parking and a garage.

The drinks were really good, the view was ok, the ambiance fair and the food underwhelming but I'm guessing we ordered wrong.
