I was a partner in a gonzaga house for many years before the road came in and I can tell you there was a crapload more netting going on before the pavement, and those of you that are convinced gonzaga bay is a desert......tell it to Juan Cook!

Hey sorry for the change of username this is still woody, couldn't recover my account password so I had to change accounts. I am now Woody1.

Let me catch you up. My grandpa and I went to Santa Rosalia back in August of 2018. The fishing was slow, weather was hot and windy, but we still caught some Dorado. There were nothing to brag about. A few bulls but nothing pushing +20lbs. We were probably the only fishermen out there the whole week. Trips with my 91 year old grandpa are always fun and special even if the fishing is slow.

We went to Cabo in November and KILLED it! Marlin and Dorado were HOT, but this isn't about Cabo.....

We are headed back to Santa Rosalia, San Lucas to be specific, for the first week of April 2019. We got a fishing report the other day from down there and they said it had been very slow for tuna but had recently picked up. We will be getting another report about a week before we go down. If anybody has any tips or reports I would love to hear them. Otherwise, I will do better about giving you an update when I get a report in a couple weeks and a trip report when I get back.

Making bait is always hit or miss (insert rant about the trawlers) so I wanted to ask you all what you do when you can't make bait? We typically troll with Rapala X-Rap 10/15/20s or with squid lures. Have you ever trolled with dead bait? We did that in Cabo and had good results. If so, what species can you troll with and expect a hit? Is it just the bait fish or would they hit a bay bass?

Thank in advance, and if you will be in the area the first of April let me know! I would love to establish some more contacts that go/live down there. My grandpa wont be around forever.

(I will try to upload some pictures later...couldn't get it to work.)
