Interesting new pop-top camper shell for trucks

FYI- for those with trucks considering a camper: Saw these advertised over at Expedition Portal. Haven't seen one in person yet.

They will have one on display in Flagstaff in May at an annual event that highlights off-road vehicles & equipment.

Looks like they would be a good alternative to fiberglass shells/Callens (hard to find) for Baja washboard/off-roading. I've often wished I could
install a pop-top on my Callen.

New ones are pricey (but so is breaking down in the middle of an off-road adventure). There are a few YouTube videos showing interiors, wrap-around
awnings, setting up the bed, etc.

Innovative design- looks pretty rugged.

Just more spendy shinny chit for the overlander squirrels to chase.

FYI: Callen Camper is back in business in San Marcos, Ca. At least a company using the name and building similar campers to the old El Cajon Callen
Campers.

Not cool enough for the overlanding dorks. The prerec to get into the club is minimum a roof top tent and the more you pay the higher your standings.

Bring a cot, and sleep like a civilized man. Keep a tent for rainy nights.

Those rooftop tents look like more trouble than they're worth. Something about drowsy humans and gravity just seems a bad mix. Not to mention
leveling issues whenever you park.

Nice to see Callen back in the running. I was too late to get one a few years ago and settled for a BelAir @ $1900. Not as well built as the Callen so
I'm told.Engineered a slide in kitchen console and captains bed out of stored away scrap plywood and hardware from Habitat for Humanity. Total added
weight of about 400lb to the truck and great comfort.

i learned i can justtt fit a standard twin size mattress in the back of my Ranger, enough room for the wife and I for a few nights

I do like those cot setups though, pretty slick

I live 15 miles from the Overland and now they moved it so just 6. Never been, to busy exploring in my truck, motorhome, and on dirt bikes!

The rigs that pull into town are stupid, Not sure the way to get along in Baja is a $400,000 Earth Roamer. Might be asking for something you don't
want...

But a $9000 tent on your truck keeps the Lions away!
