San Felipe to Gonzaga drive time
Before the storm wiped out the road, my usual drive time from the Rockodile Pemex to Gonzaga was about 2 hours. Does anyone have a recent drive time
for this segment? I will be driving at night. Thanks!

You are gonna get lit up for this. But we've done it many times also.

Not a lot more but do be carful of the washouts, some will sneak up on you pretty quick and most seem to be marked better as of a week ago.

Safe bet to add 50% to your old time. Several trip posts on Nomad have given drive times.

You are taking a chance driving at night, but if you do, anytime you see dirt going across the pavement, slow down, any dirt, anywhere, there can be
big drop offs. It looks like nothing, but its not. Not all problems are marked. Relative just came down last week and at night it double caution.
Drive slow, it's around 3 hrs. This report is from Gonzaga, Punta Final.

3 hours is pretty reasonable. Be SUPER careful! About a month or so back a guy was pretty severely injured driving at night on this stretch going
north as someone had moved the big rocks at a bridge washout and before he knew it he was flying down into the washout. when I passed that washout
about 3 weeks ago the rocks were back in place, but one never knows...

I just did it recently and it wasn't as bad as I heard it would be! There was a bunch of small detours, but not bad. There was 1 that was maybe a
couple minutes...most are literally 30-40 seconds.
The dirt portion north of Puerticitos was smooth as a baby's arse! If there is no traffic, you can move right along.

I will be heading to Gonzaga early June and was wondering how the rode is these days. We went through there going south in October right after a
hurricane the detours were not even made yet we had to do some crazy chit to get around the washouts. On our way North a week later we were racing the
2nd hurricane driving through there in the pouring rain.

unless you are extremely careful trailers do not like the bad road sections. A friend of mine has a house south of Puertecitos. During the time before
pavement he collected about 5 trailer carcasses. Left behind by frustrated travelers.
Most trailers do not have any suspension and are not constructed for the constant pounding of bumpy roads.

To the point about trailers... We just did the NORRA race. One of our support vehicles was towing the race trailer. Day 2 went from San Felipe to
Bahia de Los Angeles. Taking 5 all the way past Cocos, through to Chapala. Upon arrival in BoLA, we noticed that we'd lost one of our springs on the
trailer. Fortunately, our driver "knew a guy", and in no time, we had our spring replaced. The road definitely took a toll on the trailer!

I'm looking forward to your report David K My trailer does not have springs it has a different kind of suspension and it's a 2019 trailer it will be
the first time I've ever pulled a trailer down there.

OK, well I will know by this afternoon if I am going... I may be able to get online while down there at some spots, otherwise, I will be back in a
week and will post then.
Just on a hunch, as stated elsewhere, trailers don't like dirt roads, it will require that you drive really slow over rough parts.

I know all about driving slow on dirt roads and have no problem pulling my boat on dirt roads as long as they are not too screwed up it's a 19ft
Bayrunner Baja Aluminum center console so it's pretty light
The trailer is brand new never been in salt water.
