ULSD in Mexico - 5 year extension granted
News regarding the availability of ULSD
"The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has voted in favor of postponing for five more years the implementation of a rule requiring Pemex to produce,
distribute and sell ultra-low-sulfur diesel (ULSD) across the country."
"According to the CRE resolution, the state oil company can only continue marketing ULSD in the country’s three largest cities – Mexico City,
Guadalajara and Monterrey – and along the northern border."

ULSD is all over Baja Norte and Sur now.
My truck is 2015. It use to throw codes from non-ULSD. Hasn't for 2+ years.

Only one station in Loreto has fuel labeled Ultra Bajo Azufre, I brought some back and had it tested, it was 13 ppm and high quality. However I topped
off in Mulege on my way down and while in Loreto went into Regen twice, almost back to back. I talked to a few station managers in San Quintin, none
would tell me their diesel was low sulfur, the manager in El Rosario said their fuel was no longer low sulfur. The person at the Loreto station, who
seemed to be most knowledgeable said Ensenada was ulsd and LaPaz south. One thing is for sure, the statement that all of Baja is ULSD is no longer
true.

Pemex Fuel sold at stations from Tijuana to El Rosario, L.A. Bay and Villa Jesus María all come from the same depot, at El Sauzal, just north of
Ensenada.
The only manager at El Rosario Pemex is the owner, Antonio ('BajaCactus' here on Nomad) who speaks English. Is this who you talked to? Remember Low
Sulfur is the older fuel... and Ultra Low Sulfur is the newer fuel. So, if you are told they no longer sell "Low Sulfur" then that means it is Ultra
Low Sulfur.

perhaps this is true. perhaps not. things change. if i were operating a retail fuel station, i would buy from the the lowest price
terminal/wholesaler...
also,... perhaps el sauzal wholesaler sells multiple types of diesel.

Who made that statement?
It might be true that all PEMEX STATIONS in Baja dont have ULSD. But virtually all of the new foreign entries into Mexico do.

If you run a Pemex station in Mexico, you're fuel is coming from Pemex. You don't really have much choice.

Hooks spot on with that info. Same down here on the mainland. A few years ago when the Pemex station in SMA switched to Mobil I asked the owner about
their diesel and was assured it was coming from refineries in Texas=ulsd.

pemex has been selling space in their terminals and pipelines for other pertoleum companies to transport and store fuels.
with the opening of retail fuel sales in mexico, i think pemex is no longer the only transporter/distributor of fuels in mexico... local pemex
stations appear to be locally owned/operated,... who knows if they are still bound to buy fuel only from pemex?
