Baja Ferry Questions
A friend of mine wants to know about the Baja Ferry services. It's been a while since I've used the La Paz to Mazatlan ferry, like 35 years, but I
know it's still in operation.
Can someone advise us on what day and time it departs La Paz (from Pichilingue actually), how much it costs for an SUV and a family, etc. to travel to
Mazatlan?
Also, I have read recently here that the Santa Rosalia ferry to the Mexican mainland is back in operation. Is this still the case and what are the
costs, etc?
Thanks for your help.

You sure ?? I thought they only cover the La Paz to Topolobampo and the Santa Rosalia to San Carlos crossings. I believe the Mazatlan one is a
different outfit.

I think the ferry Sematur to Mazatlan is not running at this time, the Sematur website is down so cannot confirm it but will investigate.

We took Baja Ferries to Topo as it was much cheaper. Our rig is about 17meters (van + trailer) and for 2 adults, 4 children (all under 11) and the
vehicle, it was around USD900. This was March of this year. Ferry operated every day except (I believe) Sunday. Crossing took 5 hours.

When you take the ferry, what about customs, and vehicle registration etc??? How is that handled? Also one sites prices are drastically different
than the other site. both are in peso's.

The car inspection and documentation IS done on the La Paz boarding. Once the ferry is over on the Topolobampo side, and tied up, off-loading begins
quickly and you drive off and on your way.
Be apprised of the fact that it will be 11 pm at night when you get off the ferry and start driving!!!
