Good beer in Baja?

Headed down again soon for camping and what not. Where can one find decent beer in Baja. We drink the Tecate like water, but only found decent
local beer once in a supermarket in Ensenada and it was nada after that going further south. We will be in Bahia Concepcion area so knowing which
places in Mulegé or Loretto have good beer would helpful. Would much prefer locally brewed beers over US or other foreign microbrews. Cheers!

Other than micro brewery/ craft beers, Pacifico is very popular with the Baja Nomads.
If you want a dark beer, Negro Modelo seems to be popular as well as XX Amber.

Stop at microbrewery "Agua mala" in Ensenada on your way down, about 6 miles before you get to downtown on Mex 1, on your right as you are heading
South.

It's probably further south than you plan to travel, but the Todos Santos Brewing Company has a nice variety of craft brews made on the premises. I
found it amusing that I had travelled over 3,000 miles from New England and could still buy a New England style IPA.

Loreto has a restaurant/brewery. El Zopilote Brewing Co. It's right in the town square. They also sell growlers and fill them up for you.

San Felipe has a similar place. They sell growlers as well.

If you're in Bahia Asuncion, I brew a lot. Today I brewed up an old school double IPA. Yesterday we bottled an Imperial Porter.

In addition to what was mentioned above, check out Wiwi's in San Quintin. Brand new hotel just opened across the street which is great as we always
stop for pizzas and beers. I'll be there in a few weeks!

If the Walmart in Guaymas is any indication of what other Walmarts have in Mexico, check them out. In addition to craft beers from Mexico, they have a
wide variety of imported beers from Europe. Not cheap, but who cares if you are enjoying one every few days or so.

BTW, has standard Pacifico in the 355 ml bottles disappeared in Baja, the way it has over here? Cant be found anywhere. Not Pacifico Light; amarillo.

All we have now are these skinny, tall aluminum cans.

The "medias" have been hard to find at the depositos for months now. Always better in the bottle IMO.
Was told by the wholesaler it was due to lack of staff during the worst of the epidemic, quien sabe?

I have a case of the 355 ml bottles just sitting in the sun. Sure would like to use them again.

The chisme a couple years ago was that Modelo was going to get rid of all deposit bottles. Maybe its starting to happen.

Bohemia or Victoria, both excellent and around 80 Pesos a six pack! I drank Victoria in Mexico City back in the 80’s when it was a local DF brand!

For what it is worth, Heineken in Mexico is from a brewery on the mainland.

Really? Why has no one mentioned Baja Brewing? They brew beer in downtown San Jose and also in Tijuana. They make a nice variety of beers including
IPA's and porter
