ok, taking the Yamaha 700 off of the list and adding the 1200 super tenere. Anyone have any seat time on one?

Been many years but I got some seat time when they were first released. While certainly a decent mc I didn't find anything particularly exciting
about it. Perhaps the newer version is more exciting.
Unfortunately it seems like bmw and HD are about the only dealers that will do test rides.

mjs, that's what I'm finding about test rides. Unless you get lucky and can find a factory demo day no free rides! Can't say I'll buy a bike that I've
never ridden. I have many friends that have BMW1200 AND OTHER SIZE BMW's but I'm not sure they are on my list. Maybe I need to go try one as well?

Well I wouldn't dissuade you from a BMW. I've owned a three R12OOGS over the years (4 if you count the HP2) and still have 650 X-Challenge. Newest
was a 2017 Rally so no experience on a 1250.
You should go ride one or a few. May not be what you want but fun way to spend an afternoon on someone else's gas. 
Might give the Pan-Am a try too. I haven't ridden one but a buddy is working on the promo tour. He's always been a big BMW fan and he tells me the
Pan-Am is really good.
So many choices. Maybe that's why the perfect number of motorcycles to own is always one more then what you have now.

not a first hand report but an ex-girlfriend and an xlnt rider with thousands of miles on the seat (she solo rode across country up to canada and
back) had poor luck with the KaTooM so she went and bought a T7, 8000 miles on it (mostly dirt) and absolutely LOVES it!
there's only two things in life but I forget what they are........

I love KTM'S but I do all of my own work and the 990 is a pain when you have to some of the major service work. I total love my 500 but it's easy to
work on. I only took the 700 off of the list because I want something bigger for the street and the 500 for the dirt. Keep the info coming everyone.

I have a T7 now have been down the BAJA 2 times in the last couple years on it before that went down on a 790R I also own a super tenere a few years
back IMO the T7 is the best lighter ADV bike on the market.
It really depends on what type of riding your planning on doing but for me 60 - 70 % off road 30 40% asphalt the t7 is the best bike out.

I can fill you in . Having FI on moto great runs better start better better MPGs. Down side what I know off road and fool sport bikes. When it breaks
you are in trouble. The old carb V FI carb ultra reliable. Two amigos w 15 and 17 WR450s pump went out about 25,000 miles . Amigos Husky KTMs way
less miles take note not all have this problem . Depends how much you ride and what kind riding . When this bikes broke some we had double out
nightmare . Leave bike middle of no place . No worry somebody steal bike as no way to get out .Yes return weeks later all parts need or not replace
drive out. My more new moto this year got a CRF250F FI bike used . Love the FI so far no reports of fail on that model . It still concerns me FI
parts super expensive to replace .I think just the FI control is just under 800.00 bucks pumps are 250 to 450.00 Pick your carb or FI. Knock on wood
mine has thousands upon thousands miles on it .AS ex tour rent bike from Utah.

Another note everything on FI bike needs to be perfect Battery all wire plugs clean . Many other factors can stop FI bike
