La Paz cruise ship terminal

La Paz will get a cruise ship terminal in Pichilingue
all commercial shipping at Puerto Pichilingue will move to a new port at San Juan de la Costa
the area around Pichilingue will be developed into a tourist attraction
city officials dream of a second Los Cabos
realtors and businesses are already salivating

San Juan de La Costa is where the nitrate mine loads ore. It is across the bay, north and west of Piqhilinque.

Cruise ships are floating petri dishes.
I must have a character flaw that ever taking a cruise ship is not on my radar.
If they could become more responsible in dealing with their 'leftovers' in all their forms than dumping it all offshore, maybe i would feel more of an
attraction.

I generally am not a fan of cruise ships. But I have done two cruises and both were great: Alaska cruise, and river cruise on Danube.
It would never have occurred to me to do these trips, I only went as they were family trips. But I was pleasantly surprised.
Still, the cruises in the tropics and other high heat areas look horrible, and the larger the cruise ship, the less appealing….

That ship photo is super-imposed on that Venice photo to look as big as the Death Star behind the city harbor. But, I don't disagree that cruise ship
sizes are ridiculous!

There are hundreds of cruise ships, the Alaska state ferry, hundreds of fishing boats, etc. up and down the Inside Passage, and for quite some time.
I have to assume there would be quite a "stink" from all concerned -- government, environmental, citizens, native cultures - if this were to occur.
And it would be obvious to see a huge spill in these bays and channels. Just my opinion - but when taking the state ferry from Bellingham to Juneau,
everything looked wonderfully clean. It's in their interest to keep it clean. I'm doing a 9-day in August - I'll keep this issue in mind.
As for La Paz, perhaps it would be a tender port. In Belize City the ships anchor way out to protect the environment. Retail and excursions will
start smallish and grow. The Cabo ship port seemed reasonable to me (went Thanksgiving) in terms of what I'd expect to find. A few restaurants, but
mostly small operators holding signs for day tours. I got a water taxi to the beach and spent the day ($5 RT).

I think it is "photo shopped."
Follow the tree line from the left side of the photo. the last tree on the right appears to be between the ship and the camera pov.
If that is Venice, it would be interesting to find out if their port is even deep and wide enough to accommodate that ship.

I just did a quickie research inquiry about cruise ship trash (not dumping). Said most trash is disposed of at the ports where they start. However,
Juneau accepted tons of garbage from cruise ships. Some of the cruise ship port fees go toward city infrastructure - so I'd think waste management
might benefit from these fees. Research also said that cruise ships have incinerators to take care of a lot of trash, but that emissions reductions
advocates made them cut down on fewer incinerators. As for La Paz, I would hope the city would take in millions of dollars to help with City
infrastructure that benefits the cruise ship endeavor and citizens as well. I could work out well. Likely years away from fuition.

The two are not side by side, the ship is behind, far behind the dome.
Look at the bottom of the ship's bow. It is behind the trees way in the distance, outside the Venice lagoon/harbor, in the Adriatic Sea. Even goat
sees it and his eyes are slotted!
