Jetski and trailer transport


I am trying to get a jetski and trailer to la paz this month of November. Does anyone know of a transport company that can move a trailer with jetski. Or possibly someone who is heading down and needs $500 in gas money. The trailer has been completely reworked. New lights new axle new bunks. It is a two jetski trailer with one jetski on it. Total value is 5k dollars at the most. Jetski is 2004 with low time.

Whoever tows it, the trailer must be added to your Mexican auto insurance policy, otherwise if you get into an accident, the policy is nullified. It is easy to add it, maybe even a phone call. Just ask you broker.

Obviously, the registration needs to stay with it.

A technical point might be, how is it your personal property is in Mexico when you are not, or is your spouse there? A violation of the FMM is when you are not in Mexico your personal property cannot stay. Unless you have a residency visa and are a part-timer in Mexico instead of an FMM turista, like most of us.

I hear that sometimes the border guy will ask for trailers registration.
I have never been asked for that document.
I think you always will be asked for registration for nay motor vehicle. then they compare your Id to the registration. I winder what happens if the motor vehicle does not agree with your papers.

Know where the registration number is on both. It will make things easier for both of you. Everyone likes easy and that may make your stop faster.

$500 aint much for a 1000 mile tow. There is insurance, border hassle, vehicle wear/tear, extra driving time, extra gasoline consumption, hassle of finding secure overnite parking, etc.

And if the trailer has a mechanical, then there is the hassle of fixing it which would add days and $$$ to the journey

It’s $1500 to La Paz for small cargo trailers, $2500 for travel trailers, boats over 20’ be prepared to pay. Mostly goes to fuel, insurance and the white knuckle effect on 70% of the road that is barely wide enough

Check out freight carriers/ forwarders, and have it ride in a semi trailer. I had a full size tractor shipped that way.
Contact baja shippers. I use them often. If they can't help you, I'm sure they can point you in the proper direction.

I get asked for my trailer registration 100% of the time I cross plus my ID so they can match my ID name to the trailer registration and match the VIN on the registration to the trailer. Then they do the same for whatever is on the trailer (jeep or utv).

Also are Jet Ski's exempt from the TIP requirement to bring a boat over the border? If not you will need that also.

A T.I.P is not required for boats less than 4.5 meters (14.7 ft).

If you are bringing any vehicle, boat or trailer across the border that is not yours, you should have the registration (not the title) and a notarized statement from the registered owner that you are doing it with their permission.
