Border construction

I'm sure it's been discussed somewhere on this site, but can somebody update me on all the highway construction along the border in Tijuana. Came back to the states the other day taking Blvd 2000 to Industrial to get to the Otay crossing and because of the construction going on in that area the traffic was a nightmare. Two lanes turned in to one made for a long drive home. Is the construction along the border east of Las Playas related to the construction east of the Otay crossing. What is the ultimate plan and any idea when it might be done...hopefully while I'm still alive:?:

Good question!
In the meantime, go home through Tecate. I prefer driving longer than idling in a long line.

I'll go ahead and answer my own question. Go to this site and scroll down to the virtual tour of the finished product: https://www.sandiegored.com/en/news/262091/Will-there-be-tol...

Jodiego, last I heard the Mexican side of that new border crossing east of Otay will be ready WAY before the USA side is ready. So you may not be alive to see that completed! Ha ha ha.

As for the tunnels and stuff by the border - I'm guessing your link answered some of those questions.

Blvd 2000 has been fine lately for me.......no waits normally....

Good luck!
