The San Judas onyx mine area has some interesting stuff. A few years ago, I found this half of a metate up there. And in that same photo, what I thought were ancient stumps of trees.

In this photo, looks to me like an ancient tree stump. If not, what rock would look like this?

At Cinco Islas nearby, in a shallow arroyo leading to the bay, I found some unusual pieces of pottery. I’ve never seen indigenous pottery that looks like this. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks for sharing that! It shows what my be found if one isn't in a hurry.
I definitely want to get back to (Pozo de) San Francisquito and explore more to find gold prospects, more waterholes, and match up the other Gulick 1959 photos with today's view. https://vivabaja.com/pozo-san-francisquito/

Thank you for the San Judas article. Maybe Sagrado had some connection to the mine.

Could be? It went by a different name when Howard Gulick was here in the late 50s.
