Lots of people die from alcohol and tobacco use, but we have not banned those products.
Only about 100,000 die per year from ODs.
Over 400,000 die each year from smoking tobacco.
In perspective of tobacco deaths that govt finds acceptable, I dont see ODs as a problem.

Schedule 1 drugs are illegal. Allowing those drugs to cross the border is the gov't's problem to solve. This isn't a social issue or debate on whether drug addicts shouldn't have the freedom to use drugs or not.

The issue here is stopping MX drugs from entering the US.

Alcohol and tobacco not illegal. Poor analogy.

You don't have a solution or you would have written it by now.

Try to have an intelligent conversation or move on.

Stellar information on this website! I'm sure the experts are all observing and taking notes.

All of you (except AK Gringo who has a brain) should be proud of yourselves for providing such a crystal clear example of why humans can't be trusted to solve such a complicated issue!!

Have a wonderful Sunday.

An observation by another observer that can't provide any example of any expertise on this issue other than criticism of others opinions.

We conquered over use of other drugs by a pretty simple format. Locate the pushers at the middle schools level and trace them up the delivery chain that preys on at risk middle school aged kids, whether they have stable families or are in rotating Foster homes is not the issue. Of course this requires dealing with the issue at the demand end and tracing it up the chain, involving other countries' enforcement agencies in cooperation. Along the way you will catch the ones feeding the despondent homeless, the PTSD veterans and other at risk and vulnerable adults. The demand end is the issue, where there is increasing demand, some one, internally or externally with no conscience will fill it.

With this one, we find numerous examples of mid teens that knowingly or unknowingly had this drug once, and died as a result. Why did they attempt it? That's a societal issue to deal with. Why are Vets 4 times more likely than others to be homeless and consequently addicts? Another societal issue. Why is there an exploding number of despondent homeless that eventually succumb to drugs? Another internal issue. Deal with all the demand issues first and the exploding drug use will go with it.
