Starlink pay to pause plan
We use starlink for about 6 months a year in Baja on a roaming plan. It seems now they want me to pay 110 pesos a monthly during the months we
deactivate the service. They throw in a very limited service for the paused months, but since I bring in the antenna, it's no benefit to us. You would
think Elon has enough money.

Billionnaires never have enough money. They are obsessed with making more even though they couldn't possibly spend what they have in their lifetime.

This sucks! I feel like I'm having to pay narco protection money. If there was something comparable to starlink out there I'd dump starlink in a
heartbeat.

I understand why some people aren't a fan, but honestly, I'm pretty excited for the new low-speed mode. I don't really need high-speed data very often
in Baja. When I'm exploring remote beaches, I really only need the ability to text, call, and maybe send some emails. Although a little slow,
downloading some sat maps will be nice too. Being able to do this anywhere in Baja all for $6 per month! That's an insane deal to me. And if we ever
need faster speeds, we can always grab those plans for one month, but to be honest, I'm not in Baja to spend time on my phone or computer.
I'm also in Baja nearly every month, so it's not just sitting around unused for 6 months at a time. I can see how that sucks for the guys who don't
get down much. Between the Starlink and the ability to send satellite messages on my iPhone, I think it's time I ditch the Garmin InReach
subscription, which is now a minimum of $7.99 per month.

Boy there are some negative people on this board . Any thing to get a slam in.
I believe the 110 Peso / month is an offer. Therefore optional. I took it as a favor- instead of pausing and having zero service , you get a baseline
amount for a pittance.

Also , as an aside, I have completely ditched ATT and have been using Tmobile for over a year. I have had zero issues using my phone [apple] while in
Mexico.
With their included T-Satelite service , I have texted in areas with no cell service and it works great. I believe it works with certain IOS and also
Android devices.

To opt-in and stay paused, click Confirm Standby Mode and follow the steps below before 13/09/2025. If no action is taken by that date, your paused
service line will be cancelled.
Not optional.

Break me?
I only use the mini a couple of months a year and this is not what I signed up for. I think ellen is trying to make up for his losses after his doge
folly?

It doesn't cost the company money for someone to pause their service. Seems Elon is charging a punishment fee for not requiring his service
year-round.

Seems as though some here don't understand basic business principles. If Elon sells a unit, he has to have the infrastructure and staff to be able to
support that unit.

Recently got a starlink mini on our three month travels thru the USA. $50/month 50gb plan. Worked for those areas where there was zero coverage (and
there’s a lot!). Since back home, I’m on the $6/month pause plan until we crank it back up. Seems like a decent deal for the convenience of access
in areas remote to cell coverage. I can use my cell to call over the satellites too. However, in today’s internet world, 50 gb month goes pretty
fast. Every GB over is a dollar. Still, all in all it worked for me. Just have to figure out my solar power back up battery issues.

Starlink is pricy and slow compared to hardwired home service in populated areas, so i suspect most of starlink subscriber base is cheapskate
part-time users - like snowbirds, homeless (van lifers), and RVers (people who cant “camp” w/o AC, TV and CPAP) - who are frequently turning
service on and off.
Makes sense that the subscriber base, heavily reliant on part-timers, needs to charge fee in off months.

Thanks chippy.
